No More Reserved Slots, Please!

I would kill for a feature that prevented reserved slots from being listed as open slots in the game list. I just spent 15 minutes trying to join a server, because all the good, non-full ones had reserved slots.

SERVER ADMINS: AT LEAST PUT "(1 R.S.)" OR _SOMETHING_ IN THE SERVER NAME. STOP LETTING US CONNECT TO YOUR FULL SERVER.

And one more thing. I joined a sweet server that was listed as 23/24 with a 50 ping. It loaded up and I spawned. I noticed it seemed a little laggy. I then took a look at the scores, and there were a total of 8 people in the game, all with over 500 ping.

SERVER ADMINS: DO NOT REDIRECT PEOPLE TRYING TO JOIN A FULL SERVER TO SOME CRAP HOLE SERVER THEY DON'T WANT TO JOIN.

Good god, what does it take to get a game of NS?

Use HLSW or ASE, they show how many reserved slots there are, and they are 10x better than the in-game browser anyways.

The latest release of Adminmod will hide the reserved slot from public view. Our server has 17 slots, 1 always reserved. The public only sees 16 slots.

You can always use ASE to find out exactly how many reserved spots there are.

Man, you're inflammatory... I can't help but talk down to you with a post like that.

Maybe if you'd use a little logic, you'd notice that if a server has an odd maxplayer count, then they are probably reserved slots. That will let you recognize almost all 1-reserve-slot servers from the in-game browser.

Or, you know, you could get off your ****, stop being lazy, and use a good serverbrowser, like ASE or HLSW.

The problem with sv_visiblemaxplayers is that once the server hits the visible max, noone else can join, even if you have reserve access. With my server, it seems to act just like maxplayers.

works fine with HLSW, maybe your game browser is confused/useless.

not true, using connect IP in the console works just fine for me, or +connect in the shortcut

Hmmmm.... I'll have to try that. I've been connecting with the in-game menu. Always comes back with a "Can't Connect, Server Full" error.

    Thanks for the tip.

Nice try *blip*, but most of the servers with reserved slots are 21/22 or 23/24.

Nice try evading the swear filters. They're there for a reason, all you've done is give me one more entry to add to the filterlist. Don't do it again, period.

And while I'm here editing, I might as well not make a new post for this. You guys need to cool it. Firefighter at your service....*locked*
