I never got to finish FF7.. I got it the week it came out and then my brother lent it to someone and never got it back.. the a couple months ago I finally came across another copy of it, so I buy it, of course; only to find out the second disc was broken.

    Agreed.

Although I LLOOOVVEEE half-life, FF7 is my all-time favorite game and I think has the best story ever. It's the only game that got to me emotionally, like when Aeirs (bad spelling) dies. I'm not saying I like cried my eyes out, but I was like, "Damn....she was cool...and Cloud was gonna get laid."

FF7 is by far the greatest game ever.

BTW: Actaully, I felt kind of bad whenever I killed barney in half-life by accident....lol.

Tales Of Phantasia is an absolutely friggin wonderful RPG. Why? Because Arche is the hornyest RPG character ever, that's why. It don't get funnier than when she offers to pay for everything with herself.

FF VII is the best Final Fantasy in my opinion.

FF IX is right behind it.

FF VIII... I didn’t like it, hated the characters. And the graphics was just... horrible.

FF X is my only Final Fantasy on PS2. It is really great, but I haven’t completed it yet. Those bosses are just too hard IMO.

Final Fantasy 7 was the best game I ever played. I never completed it unfortuneatly, got onto the second disk.

Recently I downloaded a demo of FF7 for the PC and it looks so bad (in terms of graphics) that it makes me want to cry. They should have done a proper PC version and not just some **** port. The highest res is 640x480

The best part is when you beat Ruby and Emerald weapon, which make Sephiroth look like a sissy. (except they don't have Supernova, which is the best looking summon in the game)

Eh FF Tactics was the best FF to come out for the playstation. FF7 had a good story but it was ruined by the craptacular gameplay, namely how easy it was to make yourself invincible.

Aye FF7 is the best of the lot the gameplay and storyline were excellent and the ingame FMVs were very good (Junion Cannon V Weapon) comes to mind.

It took me a while to get into FF8 nearly 2 years before a actually picked it up and proper played it now all ive got left is the silly boss to kill.

FF9 tryed to go back to that FF7 feel but failed badly very badly infact some people would love it but i really did not like how it played and feeled i mean u play as a theif with a tail.

FF10 Has new GFX and a new lvl system which i dont like FF7 lvls and matiera all the way. I also never thought much of the storyline its playable but nothing fantastic like FF7.

FF7 is my favorite of all the ones I've played. FF8's 'draw' system is...annoying and stupid... You have to bind them to your armor, effectively preventing you from using magic because it can lower your stats! Pah...stupid.

FF7 also has a bunch of cool secrets. I used to awesome at that game, I had Gold Chocobo's coming out the Wazzoo (my cousin still think's its pronounced Cocoaboo...bah). On the train tracks near Corel there's a place you are running on the track, and birds will start chirping, you can walk into the mountain to a nest. There's the KoTR materia in the 'secret' cave everyone knows about.

Date with Aeris = Best game part ever...for me anyway, it was funny. I don't see why everyone had a big obsession with Sepheroth (there's an I in it somewhere, but I don't know where it goes!) though. FF7 had everything. If you had enough money you could buy that Col Del Soto (?) condo.

Listening to: Pieces of You, by Jewel
...she says f****t really weird....blech (bleeped it because I'm not sure if the filter would do it)

I didnt like FF7... Just too damn simple. And like most games of the FF series it lacks replay value, there is only one possible ending.

FF8 has a way better plot

FF7? It's a nice game, but with four fundamental flaws: No multiplayer mode, doesn't have multiplayer, multiplayer mode is nonexistant, and finally, there's only a singleplayer mode.
But seriously though, while it was fun once, there's just not much to make you want to invest the dozens of hours required to finish the game a second time when the story doesn't hold any surprises for you anymore. I don't consider the Final Fantasy franchise to be games in the regular sense of it, they're closer to interactive movies (which is probably why Square quite wrongly believed that they would be able to create a movie that wouldn't utterly suck). In the end, the storyline (aside from some very minor sideplots) is completely linear, so the player's role is reduced to "monster basher". You have virtually no influence on your character's personality nor the decisions they take. In a game, these would be devastating drawbacks. The FF games are popular regardless, because of the plot and the characters. Just like many movies. So when I want a good interactive movie, I'll take a FF game any day of the week. If I want a cool singleplayer game, I'll go with Deus Ex or something else where I not only get to design my own character, but also make decisions that matter.

I haven't read any of the posts in this thread, because i'm planning to play FF7 soon (borrowing it), and i'm pretty sure someone has posted a spoiler since the thread started.

Unfortunatly I already know the 2 big plot revalations (please let there be more).

So that I don't ruin it for anyone else, I am going to clearly mark it as a spoiler

    *****SPOILER STARTS HERE*****

I know that Sephiroph turns out to be a baddy and that Aeris dies. How and why I don't know. All I know about the plot is that there's some big city, you have to blow up a power plant for reasons probably explained later... blah blah blah.

And that Tifa and Cload used to be "friends".

    *****END OF SPOILER*****

Aye, FF7 was a great game.... I like the story, and the magic/skill system was one of the better out there... Just wish i had kept it when i got rid of my ps1....

    i got a ps2 about a month later

Still got FF10 tho, which, although while having the best graphics by FAR, lacks in the story department, but theres also plenty of sub-stuff to do....

FF10 was ok if you remember it is, after all, a story. And stories don't have to have happy endings

FF7 is the king, not just the main game and the secrets, the sub-games that you can play at the arcades rule. Games within a game

I agree completely, most FF games should be categorized as Action games... or another new genre "hack n' slash" ( just like Diablo )

The only recent game that deserves the right to be called a RPG is morrowind. You can be a jerk!

I liked FF7,many minigames and has 1 of the most sinister villains in FF history (the 1 person that rivals Sephiroth is Kefka)

But as for Tales of Phantasia....I wouldn't even want to think of what Arche was dreaming about in her sleep during the boat trip to Alvanista or something....

Sadly it's always save the world, not destroy the world :\ cmon make a different plot,it's always see a villain, kill him, another villain appears that wants to destroy the world, destroy him,the end....gets too repetitive IMO

So you're not looking forward to Chrystal Chronicles I gather.

Yes, Morrowind is probably an RPG. I'm not entirely sure. Then there's Neverwinter Nights, which I haven't played, but from what I hear classifies too. And nearly all of the MMORPGs COULD be RPGs if the players wouldn't spoil them.

Personally, my favorite FF in the line was FF:Tactics. Frustrating, yes. Easy after getting TG Cid? Yes. But if you kept away from the somewhat overpowered characters, you had a really solid game with a lot of replay value and personal customization.

Next up, FF6. Kefka would beat the snot out of sephy, then go for some pai. 'nuff said.

FF9 was decent.. good storyline, and dialogue enhanced a lot by choosing the correct character names.

FF... for FRUSTRATING, but fun. Unless you have the maps, it's an extreme pain in the rear to get through the original FF on the NES. I still have my cartridge, maps, manual, and box.

FFX annoyed me with Blitzball, FF8 was painful with the junky magic and income system, and FF7 just sucked in general, spawning endless legions of Sephiroth30754182903, connecting through AOL to spew their own brand of 'insight' on everyone within range, much the way monkeys at the zoo do.
