If You Can, Finish It!

Lame not to?
On quite a few servers and one or two posts I see (mainly alien) players suggesting that you should not finish games even if you can. IMHO this is lame and if you do it expect an F4.

I been in skulk rushes where they just leave 0-1 ip's, the CC and nothing else (not even RT)...for the love of god, WHY?

There's no way that you can come back from that. Early losses cripple a side and playing beyond that is pointless.

Finish it for them. If you're on aliens, kill the last ip, and if you're marine agree with your team to recycle and start over ( if they dont agree...leave the server or something).

yep, and this is also part of the reason why I disagree with Psycostats or any kind of tracked ns stats cause an onos can simpy just spawn camp.

Yes, it's usually the aliens that do this. MY team won't do it, because I'll just eat the IPs myself. And if the aliens on your servers do it, selling is your friend. Ending the game in a win should always be the number two priority (number one is everyone having fun).

I simply dont see where's the fun in, and what's the reason of a never-ending game.
If it's the marines that don't want to surrender and try their best til the very end (IPs and CC destroyed and all marines chomped) then, it's ok.

But the aliens not giving the finishing blow is just weird IMO.

I never played on a server where the alien side did something like that (even if I played with Com who recycled the main base too quickly IMO, aka surrender).

    Why would people do that?

The other day, I was playing a game and was an onos, and we were simply owning. Then the server took a huge dump, and booted everybody except 3 aliens, and 2 marines. By that time anyways, the only thing remaining was the CC and one IP. For the hell of it, myself, and another onos just sat over the IP and devoured the two marines each time they spawned. It was lame. So I killed the IP and the other Onos whined at me.

'Rines can sometimes come back, which is the scariest part... However, aliens shouldn't "leave" them alive... If they're unable to fight them off then, they're certainly not going to make it back (though I've made it back from no RTs twice out of four tries... then again, it's probably because I was able to leech all the good players who joined later )

In addition, yes, when the 'liens are just simply dragging it out, I recycle everything except the armory, drop a bunch of mines, and then recycle the rest, retreat everyone to the CC, and mine it up. Best way to end it, imho, since you get to **** off the lamer aliens too by blowing 'em up.

    I agree its dumb.

There is one unique thing added in 2.0. Res for kills.

This means a marine team going into an alien hive and spawn killing them could actually be a good strategy. If the aliens have more then one hive the marines could probably benefit more from spawn killing those that spawn and gaining res. Sort of like an extra res tower (1-3 res every 10 sec).

Course when looking at the other way around, there is rarely a reason for aliens to spawn kill because at that point its over anyway. People that drag it out are the ones who just want to tell themselves they are skilled. They aren't interested in a fun game or a challenge...they want to drag their teams win out as far as possible.

Aliens ignoring the IP and going for, say, the armoury (when we've no TF, no RT, literally nothing else bar the CC and IP) will be the ONLY reason I F4. Ever.

I just left a server because of this garbage.

f4'ing shouldn't even be an option IMO. I know it's practical to give players the option, but they abuse it.

We weren't even on a second hive when they quit. Happed four or so games before that too. Each and every game, F4.

No one was "dragging it out" or spawn camping. It was "OMG GUYZ I"M NOT GITTING KILLZ LETS EFF FOR."

It's an epidemic. People aren't winning so they just end it. It's selfish and lame.

What am I trying to say here? Nothing that hasn't been said since ns 1.0 came out (This F4 problem has been adressed before. I remember the entire fiasco). My main beef is that server admins need to really start cracking down on F4 marathons. I played a great game on bast just a few moments ago where aliens mopped the floor with us. Just because people aren't winning doesn't mean they can't have fun. Of course, if they aren't winning and don't want to have fun, why should they be allowed to do it game after game after game at everyone elses expense?
