The Onos costs 100 Res.
What can the marines buy with 100 res?

well, you could give 10 marines shottys... That is overkill on the marine's side, but i doubt you have 10 marines to fend off the Behemoth.

You could build around.. i dunno... 4 or 5 turrets with a tf? That's hardly a roadblock to an Onos.

I don't know, it just seems that maybe the Onos is too much power for one man+100 res. one man+100 res on the marine's side couldn't compete, in ANY way, shape or form.

This doesn't mean that this needs to be FIXED, just that marines need to realize that they need to stick together and work to kill those things.

    One man with a shotty that knows how to dodge is enough to kill an onos. That's 10 res to remove a 100 res thing from the front of your base.

    Even better, pair up with a buddy and have 2 shotgunners. It'll die twice as fast.

    Yeh what happens when they get 2 onos that work together... or 3... and a gorge.... and a lerk...

    The whole teamwork logic when talking about killing Oni is flawed, because you're assuming that the onos is rambo. Aliens can use teamwork too *gasp*.

    Sooo, you're saying it's a 10 res gorge, a 30 res lerk and 2 100 res onos?

    240 res? That's a couple of JPs with shotties/HMG, a couple of HA with GLs and then some medpack spam on top as icing ... Sounds fair to me.

    Yes you can manage to get a team of pubbies to synchronize their shotgun fire at the 2-3 meter mark to go off simultenously at the onos to stop it from redempting.

    What i see when HA train encounters onos without 2nd hive :

    BAM
    HA DEVOURED
    BAM
    BAM
    REDEMPT
    BAM
    BAM
    BAM
    BAM

    Standard 7 marine ha train.4 buckshots hitting the wall because they were a fraction slower than the first 3.Only time i saw onos die to shotgunners were 2 leet clanners that went like this :

    BAM BAM
    BAM BAM
    ONOS DEAD

    Thus the 3 shotgun shell mark was not achieved due to the special nature of the circumstances and the fact taht the onos was a newbie who kept trying to devour but couldnt.

    With 2 hives it goes like this :

    STOMP
    HA DEVOURED
    HA GORED TO AT LEAST HALF ARMOR
    BAM
    BAM
    BAM
    REDEMPT
    BAM
    BAM
    BAM

    in all beta builds, flayra has removed redempt devour onos.


    which means, its not going to bein the next version.

    Hah, but you think those marines are going to be able to advance? No. The problem is... the marines have good defense but against onos there is not much they can do for offense without being owned on the alien's turf. The marine RTs will die off slowly, the alien's strength grows as more evolve to higher lifeforms and more ground is infested, the marines will be consumed. If you're playing the same game you'll know this... I'm talking about when aliens actually use teamwork..

    A good regen/cara onos is just as good at devouring HA as a redemption onos btw, but much better when assaulting as a team because of their staying power.

    I think you'll find teamwork is banned via VAC. I think C-D servers sometimes don't stop it yet though.....

    Personally I think anyone found using 'teamwork' should have their WON ID banned permanently.

    Why does everyone do direct comparisons between marine and a SINGLE aliens res. The two teams are completely different so each single res is worth a different amount to each team.

    100 res = 5 HMGs. If not ramboing , they will repel most onos strikes with ease. 4 HMGs + 2 shotgun : onos can't touch the marines alive without umbra.

    You missed the point. Aliens + teamwork > marines + teamwork... IMO.

    OMG Talk about a sorry **** group of mariens. Onos not onyl are 100 res but tehre that players ENTIRE pool.
    Not only that a decent marine with a shotty can KILL a onos as it only has a small chance to trigger redemption per each 180 damage shot. Not only that if the ono kills the shotgunner another marie can pick it up which mean you dident even lose any res.

    You all need to become better players instead of whining about aleins.

    I go aliens half the time, and when i'm marines I'm usually the comm. When i'm aliens, i usually drop an rt straight up, battle gorge until i die maybe getting a chamber up, then skulk until i have enough res to lerk or wait for onos depending on the situation. As an onos that picks regen, shotgunners pose NO problem at all to me... they hurt but soon they're stomped and gored or in my belleh.

    In short, I talk from both a marine and an alien PoV. Don't give me that crap about becoming a better player..

    One thing I is people complaining about onos, but not getting weapons upgrades. Ya know, with level 3 guns, onos go away. Really fast, too. A single marine with level 3 LMG and pistol _if he has time to empty a clip from each, makes an onos redeem. Was doing it constantly tonight.

    When 4 marines with LMGs see 3 onos charging down a corridor at them, and lose just one marine, well, think about it. I hate being onos and finding out the hard way the commander was smart.

    Play on beta servers. Watch onos redeem without devouring, or trying to run (slowly) away with a full tummy and getting shot down.

    Its also a blast when the fade stands there acid rocketing you, and dies to the L3 LMG fire. Takes em by surprise, they are sooooo used to dealing with L1 weapons.

    Rsr comparison is a horrible way of looking at things. Personal and pooled rsr systems are very different and can mean different things even if each thing has 100 resources.

    Uh WTH how can a marine dodge anything its not like its a skulk,you would have to have a REALLY newbish onos.

    Oh btw are you sure the onos that dont redempt in time are low pingers with high specs?Onos always redempts at 3 shotgun shell mark....before the 4 shell can hit it,its gone.
