Certain Maps Crash Ns

This is the exact error when the map rotates to Orion: "Bad surface extents 832/0" This error causes NS to crash. I have never had this problem with hl, cs, ns reinstalled ns twice thinking my config or server ini were the cause but im at a loss. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

There is no map called 'Orion' in NS. Do you mean 'Ns_Origin', the map that shipped with NS 2.0?

Yes, but more importanlty is the error not the correct map name

Providing us with accurate information is the most important thing.

Try renaming this map to ns_origin.bak, then use a server browser to find a server running ns_origin. Connect to the server and let it download its copy of the map to you. See if it works.

This solution did not fix the problem. Thought it would work but the same error came up once the map finished downloading.

    "Bad surface extents 832/0"

It really doesn't make any sense - that error comes during map compilation, not when actually running a map (a brush error). Is there anything you're not telling us? Tell us all the system info we request in the tech FAQ, especially about video settings.

I want to thank you for your help I have resolved the problem. The issue started with moving all my data from a standard ide disk to a shinny new SATA Drive using a controller. I noticed some of my files didn't icon correctly until I showed them the new path.

Looking at this error I noticed on the server load up this was a CS generated failure. I had installed NS twice not CS so I cleaned shop and uninstalled everything, reinstalled and...magic.

I think CS was looking for information on a path that no longer existed and while most maps worked fine this one had issues.

    Thanks again.
