The need to do a "direct comparison" is just what I mean.
If the film is good in it's own right, why the need to do that? Just let it stay at being a good film in it's own right. In addition, there are many people who haven't and won't see the Japanese version. I am one of those people.

Maybe they changed it because Caucasians aren't named Sadako? Anyhow I found it to be the scariest experience of my life. People are very different I see <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
It's the only movie that ever really scared me or stayed scary in my mind. Gamewise, System Shock 2 scared me, but then I had a habit of playing alone in the dark in the middle of the night, sleep deprived. Undying was almost scary but not quite, gave me a rush but not fear, as I could fight like I was an Unreal Tournament soldier, whereas System Shock forced you to be more normal.
'The Shining' has some wacked out freaky moments, but now that I look back at it it's just gory fun <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
