How about "The Shining," have you seen that? I love it. And I've only seen the edited version.

I'v enot seen that in years upon years, i barely remember any of it barring the "famous scenes". Which is a shame, from what i remember it was an excellent film.

I thought it was a great movie.

This thread just reinforces my hate of movie critics and picky people.

Why, i stated that the movie, in it's own right, was good, it's just the fact that when it comes to remakes they open themselves up for direct comparison.
  • pardzhpardzh Join Date: 2002-10-25 Member: 1601Members
The need to do a "direct comparison" is just what I mean.

If the film is good in it's own right, why the need to do that? Just let it stay at being a good film in it's own right. In addition, there are many people who haven't and won't see the Japanese version. I am one of those people.

Overly picky people just **** me off.

Well i'm sorry that i **** you off, but really, what's so bad about having my own opinion? Fine, i'm a critic, i'm not a hater, i've not sat here and shouted "OMG THIS FILM WAS SO LAME AND YOU ARE ALL GH*Y FOR LIKING IT" now have i. Please at least respect my opinion.

OT: Seriously, is it pick on esuna for having a damned opinion day or something?

Ok, this is one of my pet hates about the film. Change the plot... ok, that makes sense, change a few character names here and there... ok... but change Sadako? Noooo! Sadako is Sadako. Sadako is not Samara, she is Sadako. End of story.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Maybe they changed it because Caucasians aren't named Sadako? If they had Asian actors sure, keep the name other than that, change it. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
"Caucasian" "Asian" WTH? not everyone is named Sadako, just like not everyone is named Johann or Pierre.. Sadako is Japanese.

Anyhow I found it to be the scariest experience of my life. People are very different I see <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

It's the only movie that ever really scared me or stayed scary in my mind. Gamewise, System Shock 2 scared me, but then I had a habit of playing alone in the dark in the middle of the night, sleep deprived. Undying was almost scary but not quite, gave me a rush but not fear, as I could fight like I was an Unreal Tournament soldier, whereas System Shock forced you to be more normal.

'The Shining' has some wacked out freaky moments, but now that I look back at it it's just gory fun <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Ahahaha, same here. I felt weird because it was me and my friend laughing out of a full theater, but it was hilarious.

<i>Edit:</i> Oh yeah, above posts were made with the sole intent of getting at Esuna. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
