Dreaming...

<div class="IPBDescription">... about NS for HL2</div> I know it's probably far off, if going to exist at all. After seeing what the HL2 engine was capable of, there wasn't a doubt in my mind that the dev crew could make something spectacular on the engine. I mean, just take a look at the graphics in NS compared to all of the other HL1 mods - they're just groundbreaking.

I was watching the intro to the emotions engine - then watched Alien; then I came to thinking about how emotions could greatly enhance marines. Let's say by chance that there's a weapon with a scope on it and you're watching some marine far away. The marine on the other side instantly flinches with a look of fear when he hears something shuffling about, but unseen. You, the "sniper" can tell that there's something close by him by his facial expression, and you search around his general area - spotting a skulk and blasting it before it leaps onto your comrade.

Also, in the Alien movies, the alien would always gestate -inside- of something. Now, imagine an alien race that could infest a marine. It'd stick to a wall and leap onto a rambo or the guy at the back of the train without making a sound. The infested marine wouldn't know at first, then he would start to lose control. Other players could see that something is odd with the infested marine by twitching and disturbing movements, and they would have to use some sort of tool to cleanse the marine... but if they didn't catch him in time, the alien would overtake the human body and become something like a Fade. Knowing the health and status of team mates would rely heavily on their expressions.

Anyway, this is just dreaming. I really hope to see NS for HL2, I know the devs have the talent for the new engine.

The best part is, you don't need to upgrade if you already have a decent machine JUST for half-life. I was told I could run my 1.3/512/128mbNvidia card and it should run fine on 1024x768 on HIGH settings.

Yeah, and I spent $1000 to build this new rig just for HL2... Athlon "Barton" XP 2500, Radeon 9700 Pro, 512MB 333Mhz DDR RAM. Benchmarked a 17000 on 3DMark 2001 and now I'm told all I'd need was a 5000.

I think people are scared about HL2 reqs. when they shouldn't be. Most are scared because of games like bf1942 that have ruined the idea of requirements. Even with an awsome system, bf1942 is still crap on my system at 1600x1200. Why? Because of shoddy (even hardware specific) code, ask any b1942 modder about what they have to deal with. They say it is getting better though, so there's still a light.

But, I'll be happy with NS, and drooling over HL2.

EA is known for the crappy-arse hardware code. C&C Generals runs for Schitt on my system, and mine isn't bad at all. When I mean runs like schitt I mean 10fps on low everything....stupid EA you'll never get my money AGAIN.
