That's breakcore alright. Venetian snares and Xanopticon represent the extreme of breakcore scene. Somewhat less chaotic artists of the genere are Hecate, Needle Sharing, Fanny (whom I find rather boring and uncreative) and Cep 45. Doormouse might also fit the bill although he used to do hardcore.

This topic might as well be closed since nobody is suggesting anything which I might like, which believe it or not was the entire point I made it. Why do I even bother.

Ahem. *back to the hijacked version of reality*

yeah, drum and bass of late is admitedly repetative, although still able to hold the interests of this fan of rhythm... jungle is a better place to look for breaks really i guess.

i tried venetian snares after some other random post you guys [esuna/ scinet] recommended them in, i dont know, i think maybe 'dance' works better to a standard time sig, the best part of breaks [for me anyway] is the way the repetition of the sounds works against the beat, and i cant follow/ nod along to venetian snares.

otto: sorry, techno was never really my thing.

Well, DnB isn't really that varied either, or maybe all the DJs I've seen spinning it only play one record on loop (this is entirely possible). Thats why I like trance so much b/c there is so much melody and sub melody to go with that bass kick. Example stuff by ATB,

"I dont wanna Stop", "Hold You" etc.

Track One of DJ Tiestos "Summerbreeze Album is decent,

And if u want lots of melody varation how about Stuff by Kai Tracid, Noemi, Groove Coverage, 4-Strings, William Orbit etc.

As for variation in DnB. As of lately it seems all the same but then again. Compair stuff like Aphex Twin to 303 Infinity. Dark moody to light cartoony.

ooh I made a rhyme.

well, the only thing you told us was that it shouldn't sound like Korean pop music. There is A LOT of music that doesn't sound like a certain song. IN fact every peice of music in the world except that song sounds... different than the song. How can you blame us when you just say "decent techno"

You can find four free Xanopticon MP3s from their website at http://rhinoplex.org/xanopticon/.

I've no idea where to find Typhoid preview clips since even their label's website is not (and has never truly been) online.

For Venetian Snares, try http://www.c8.com. When you see the menu, click the red button, then click tunes/mp3 and type in what you want to find. For a full list of songs available on C8, go here http://www.c8.com/c8/tunes/view.php?d=10&l...f=&c=&ac=Search. If you think you might want to buy Venetian Snares stuff, I suggest you hop over to Hymen's website and order the Doll Doll Doll album (you can find realmedia soudbytes of it there). I'd also suggest you to use a P2P program (*cough* Soulseek*cough*) to find the track "All the Children Are Dead" from that album, since it's probably one of the most impressive pieces of music ever created with computers. That last suggestion is ofcourse morally questionable, but if you end up buying the album, where's the harm?

True, dancing is best done to the traditional 4/4 and 3/4. But you actually can nod along to Vsnares. If you listen to the songs closely, You'll soon notice that he actually uses the same time sig very often, but it's a bit non-standard since it's 7/8. For example, you can follow the broken beat of Dolleater or All the Children Are Dead if you keep in mind that the last beat of the standard 8/8 doesn't exist.

I was thinking that Dolleater was in 7/8 but I just wasn't sure
I learned how to count 7/8 in music camp this summer (123-12-12)

hmm, I can't find the downbeat in dollmaker ;\
