Calling all mappers

<div class="IPBDescription">2d map-layout-editor</div>I´m planning a layout editor for ns_maps primary. I´m putting together specifications for this program. At this moment I need to know yours specific needs in a layout editor, I have post another topic days ago if you are interested in what a "layout-editor" mean. I wait your replies to this thread, but it will be very useful if you give some information:
MAP EXPERIENCE: time and type of maps.
NEEDED FEATURES: for the program, what you want it to be.
IMAGES!!: any layout you have made in the computer, and references to the program which you use.

    there should be definitely a grid which you can use to make straight lines for layouts... and you should be able to put in "imaginary" hives, resource nodes... maybe with some nice little topdown shot of the models... one more thing, I myself think you should be able to create different layers/heights... I know no level-over-level but you should be able to set elevators and stuff and there should be a running-time-calculator... some sort of thing that calculates the time you need to go certain ways like from the marine spawn to the hive... well that last feature wouldn't be that useful though cuz you can't map exactly the size you used in your layout ... would still be nice though...

    i agree with infi, there sould be a grid where u just like draw a line at it creates a corridor along the line. Your program sould therefore have some kind of menu with many premande corridors. U like draw all the lines(corridors) and u have like a "generate" button and it creates your corridors, the program would therefore have to be able to handle corners, T and X type crossroads. There sould also be loads of premade stuff like basic hives, rooms, doors, lifts...wow it seems like a lot of work already!

    i just used paint to make my layouts, but first drawed it all in paper <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    in paint is really easy, i just have to make squares <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    if you do that editor, you should put an option to export the basic layout to ".map" for testing purposes (calculating run times between hives)

    anyways, the grid is a must... and make the layout files bmp or another kind of image type..... dont create any file type..... well if u do so,put an option  to save as a bmp......
    this program must be a mix of worldcraft and paint <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
    u gotta have grids, colors, all the stuff paint has to make squares circles and all that stuff.....
