I think I started working when I was 15. Little fish and chip shop down the road in Byron Bay, Australia. We had one guy there who was 14 I think; I mean the job didn't take a science degree to do it was just serving customers and cooking fish and chips. I honestly don't know what the minimum age is in Australia; all I know is that there's a lot of 15 - 18 year olds in the supermarkets, McDonalds and places like that. Minimum wage and all that stuff: bosses want to cut costs so they hire young people. The vast majority is out-of-school hours: weekends, after school etc. I think that if you're under 16 you can't work during school hours: I'm pretty sure it's mandatory for year 10 equivilant education. I mean the job I did was just to earn some spare money; slotted my studies around it. Naturally if we'd been selling cigaretttes or liquor I couldn't work there until 18.

Great to see this forum back; I was begining to think it was gone forever <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
