Help With Help Text

It won't shut off!
I have been playing NS for some time now and have become annoyed with the Help Text. I know all that it has to say. I try to turn it off in options, but when a new game loads, it's somehow turned itself back on! Is there a way to permantly turn off the Help Text?

Open your console and type
cl_autohelp 0
You can also put this into your config.cfg.

Will I have to do this every game? Or will it turn it off until I want to turn it back on?

i think Pedda is right, the config.cfg should do it.

I typed it into my console once and it never came back.

cl_autohelp 0
You can also put this into your config.cfg.

If you do not enter it into your config.cfg you will have similar messages each game but they only appear once.

For me, typing it into the console also automatically modified my config.cfg so it was permanent.

I think Half-Life does this with most client variables (e.g. "sensitivity xxx" also gets put into the config.cfg if you type it during a match).

Unless your config.cfg is read-only (it won't be, unless you've deliberately set it to be) anything you enter in the console or options menu will alter it. The config.cfg is run every time you join a game, so you should only need to enter it once. That's assuming you don't have a l337 script setup, but I don't think you do

Thanks for the help. It seems to have worked by typing it into the consol. I checked my config file before and after, and it changed the config. Thanks again for the help.

so what you do exactly is.. cl_autohelp "1.0" to cl_autohelp "0" ? or is it without the quotes?, cuz i know you said type cl_autohelp 0 in console ingame but if you do it in your config it might be slightly different like "0.0" or something, just making sure before i change this cuz i have the same problem

If you change your config.cfg it needs to look like this
cl_autohelp "0"

I coppied and pasted that straight from my config.cfg
All I did was type
cl_autohelp 0
in my consol and that changed my config.cfg
From what the others say, doing either will work.
