Ns Lag On Xp

Hi, since i've installed Windows XP NS is not running constantly. I have the feeling like it's not fluid. On Windows ME it never did that. What should I do to resolve this?

    Well, how much RAM do you have? Windows XP requires at least 256mb if you want to run any games, being that XP takes so many resources. You could probably get 512mb of RAM for about 60 bucks, and that'll more than cover it.

    What vid card are you running. I hope you arent running the default drivers that XP usually installs. If you are, look for XP drivers from the manufactuers website. If you are, maybe graphics accel isnt up , or maybe too high. What res are you running now? What res did you run on ME?

    Matt, we cannot guess what computer you have. What drivers you run, directx? Why didnt you post that? The amount of information you hand out is so small. It's like saying to the doctor "It hurts!" and expecting him to know instantly what to do.

    Make sure you have acquired a fix for 60 hz problem under Windows XP. All OpenGL running games (which Half-Life mods use often) will be forced to show the screen with 60 hz framerate. It couldnt be that could it?

    I have a P4 1400mhz, 256mb RAMBUS, Geforce 4 MX 440 64mb. I've just installed Direct X 8.1. I'm running with the latest driver of nVidia.

    geez, if xp wastes so much memory I wonder if I should downgrade back to win 2000


    I recently upgraded to xp and ive had no lag, though I got a gig of ram.

    Yea XP is horrible if i dont have alot of memory, i got XP but ive got the memory that will cover that
