New Upgrades.

<div class="IPBDescription">Not fast, just 'less slow'</div> i currently have a p4 with 384mb of ddr ram and a geforce 2 ultra. i get a constant 72 fps on 1024 with everything turned on and maxed out. i also have another computer with a p3 550 and a 16mb tnt, which i have burnt to a crisp trying to overclock it. it gets about 12 fps as long as nothing moves, and about 2 fps when a marine comes onscreen. lol. guess which one i am allowed to take to college. (if you have never heard of sarcasm, i am taking the slow one)

i'm upgrading it with a powerleap 1.4Ghz celeron and adding 256mb of ram, for a total of 384mb. i also obviously need a new video card. i was thinking maybe a geforce 4 mx or something. i'm not looking to spend $400 dollars on a new 9800, i know they are awesome, but i have a 100mhz fsb for gods sake. if anyone has any suggestions as to a new video card i would be very appreciative. i'm looking for something in the $0-$60 range. all i want to play is half-life and its mods, and maybe hl2. (i know, 'good luck').

apparently i'm an idiot, and i didn't think of upgrading my motherboard..... so now its a amd 2200+ and 51 megs ddr. and i need a card for those specs. any complaints with the Ti4200? i've heard some good things about it from a friend who has one.

Gonna have to get a real good one if you want it to play HL2 <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

HL2 will run on 600 mhz with 32 mb video ram. And I personally have the Radeon 9000 Pro and Get about 75-100 fps average in NS 2.0 In 1.04 it stayed at about 90-100, but, yea, 2.0 made a lot of people loose fps so...

And that was with 256 Ram and a Athlon XP 2100+ so you should be good.

A TI4200 is enough for HL2. But! These cards really sucks. If you have the possibility try to get a 4600TI. Don't try 5200FX they are even worser than the 4200 + MX is totaly crab.
