    Try Direct3d?

    Flayra mentioned that he stopped software rendering support for NS 2.0 due to several graphical things, the details elude me.

    I know you say that you cant afford one, but Id still advice you to see if you can find a 2nd hand GeForce 1 or Geforce 2 card (in any flavour, really). They will make NS run nice and dandy and go for as little as $10 on <a href='http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=geforce+2+mx' target='_blank'>eBay</a>

    You dont install opengl, it comes with you graphics card drivers, make sure you have updated them to the latest version.

    I can only get D3D. I have money for a new one, but my computer came with a suck integrated video card, so I cant change it. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Actually, you can of course disable the card that came with your motherboard and use another one instead. That's why they gave you an AGP port.

    hopefully <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    as for software:

    NS CAN'T support it due to some funky stuf Flayra did with the engine, certain things just CAN'T work.

    But yah:
    update drivers, or buy a supre cheap GeForce2 <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    While you SHOULD do this, you don't even have to. A crap computer I have has an integrated card with a PCI radeon card. I can switch card by going to desktop properties under display and selecting which device to use <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Yea same here

    My old comp was so crap it didn't even have an AGP slot. Instead, it had this really old slot that IBM developed some years ago, but only for thier computers. It's called a 32-bit microbus or something.

    I had to buy a new comp just to use an AGP card, so here I am with a nice ATI card.

    Anyway, it would really help if we knew what your video card was so that we might be able to offer some suggestions. Suggestions without technical information are just shots in the dark and might actually screw things up.

    So....what card Arcanus?

    Well, does anyone know where to find OpenGL Drivers for an Integrated Intel 3D AGP card? I searched on google and didnt find anything useful. :-\

    Did you try <a href='http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/support_intel.asp#' target='_blank'>intel</a> ?

    yes, but we would need the actuall model name of it so we wouldnt give ya bogus drivers, and then we'd need the operating system youre using to make sure youre getting the right ones.

  • devicenulldevicenull Join Date: 2003-04-30 Member: 15967Members, NS2 Playtester, Squad Five Blue
    Get the drivers from <a href='http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html' target='_blank'>http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html</a>
    Okay?
    They will have OpenGL built in if the card supports it

    All it says on the papers for my computer is "Integrated Intel 3D AGP Graphics"

    I searched Intel and didnt really find anything =\ Oh well.. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I am inclined to just let you hang, as you still have not told us anything about your system. This is frankly, very rude of you to waste the time the volunteers of this forum by them having to drag info out of you that you should have incldued in your very first post.

    I am feeling charitable though:

    1. Hold down Windows Key + the pause|break button.
    2. This brings up the System applet. Depending on your OS (that you have not told us), there should be a 'hardware' tab
    3. in the hardware tab, open 'Device Manager'
    4. Under 'display adapters' tell us what it says for the video card.

    I suggest both of you go to the system properties. To do this, go to"

    start-settings-control panel

    under the control panel youll see an icon marked "system"

    In windows 98 and ME (I think its the same for ME anyways..) Select the device manager

    In 2k select the "hardware" tab then click device manager in the window.

    Then see where I highlighted in red. It should have info on your graphics card there. Plz tell us what that says. I hope it has the model number there, alot easier to find the right driver.
