Jones made a discovery today. All the walls we have seen have been bare, but when Jones opened up passage 13 B Alpha, he discovered several carved glyphs with unintelligible symbols on them. Our epigrapher is working on it but without more samples he wont get very far.

I said in an earlier log that these people were far in advance of human developement. I was wrong. According to Wentworth, these people were at the very least twelve centuries in advancement of human tech. I for one think that this project is far bigger then anything we could have envisioned, it's certainly worth more then any megacorporation is and will no doubt change the face of human culture.

Manson has been acting strange lately. Keeping to himself, muttering words all the time and scratching some kind of lump on his wrist. I knew that kid was a wierd one and I never liked him, but still, I'm worried about him.

Something amazing has just happened. As we were excavating Entrance 114b3 Beta, our scanners detected some kind of nanogrid!
We're currently analysing the nanites the ancients used, according to sensors they are offline and seem to have been dormant for an extensive period of time. As soon as we can identify and activate the nanites, we might be able to gain access to their computer logs, providing they are still intact and make decades of progress in a day!

This will probably be my saddest log I'll ever have to record. Manson was found dead today, slumped against some kind of ancient pillar. He was covered in a kind of sheen of cold sweat, though it certainly didnt feel like sweat. My condolences go out to the Manson family and kin. His body has been bagged and tagged, but we've left him where he was found since we will have to excavate the tunnel further before we can safely remove his body from the temple.

Mansons body is GONE. We dont know where it is, it simply wasnt at the site where we left it. It's almost as if he has got up and walked off. Half the team is freaked out. I've ordered everyone to be innoculated against the jungle diseases we should be coming up against, hopefully that will keep them calm. Even so, I've got half a mind to call the TSA in, though I doubt that they would help out a bunch of spooked archaeologists.

We've identified what the nanites are. The ancients, it seemed, took a rather different approach to nanotechnology then we did. Apperently, they used some kind of globular bags of nanites. We've determined that these globules cannot grow beyond system parameters. We will be connecting power relays to some sort of power core located in the central atrium of the temple in several days time once Johnson can get a power converter online, that should be in three or so days time.

Rumour has it that Clives saw Manson in tunnel 15C12. I dont know whats worse, this "Sighting" of Manson running away from that young tech or the two sets of footprints in the tunnel where the sighting occurred.
I dont like this. As soon as we hook in those power relays and see what this baby can do, I'm going to download what information I can from the Temples computer system and then get us the hell out of here. I'm as creeped out as anyone else, but this place seems... Haunted...

We hooked in the power relays a few hours ago. So far the nanite network appears to have reactivated itself, but it seems to be causing interference with ours. A strange problem I know, but nothing major. We only have to keep an eye on our equipment more then usual now. The Manson sightings have ceased, though I'm not sure about the rest of the team. They look disturbed somehow, Clives keeps muttering to himself the same thing over and over, though I cant tell what the heck it is.

Gregorian chants you mean? Don't know about copyright or stuff like that but toss that into a search engine as you should get plenty of hits.
This sounds like one of the best ideas for a map I've ever seen! Really hope you can bring this one through to fruition because I already wanna play it! A few suggestions: for elevator buttons and the like, use some funky runic symbols, also adding in the sound of sliding rock when a switch is pushed would sound great! Possible weld points: have one in a very dark room that when activated opens up the roof. Sunlight then shines onto a series of mirrors that light up the room. Another could be one which floods an area or disables a trap. For traps maybe a flame trap, near a hive, which is a short cut but you have to pass through gusts of flame to reach the hive. Weld could shut it down.

I like ^_^ How about a stone ball of doom trap where you have to run down a hallway being followed by a big boulder? Just a gimmick, because you could get away by going into a nook in the wall, that have like 5 foot spaces inbetween them. Think it could be done? Frankly I perfered the green hologram style because a digital (or whatever they use) wont crack llike that. The tech should still be in place but the rock has begun to crumble. Kinda gives it the feel of the tech being so advanced it last longer than the stone used in the walls.

The red ladder going up to the team choice..Looks a bit like Gordon freemans love palace. It looks out of place..try to get a different texture..like a rope ladder or something.
Yes, these two transparent ladder textures celebrate a comeback in a lot of NS maps and make them look like a HL deathmatch map imo. Well, maybe not the best hive names but heres some location Ideas
Cenote 451 (think mayan cenotes in the yucatan peninsula)
Halls Of The Living (A hall filled with pilars with a central res node)
Halls Of The Dead (A spookier version of the HOTL)
Technicus Maximus (A Very high tech looking room)
Immortal Fire (A room filled with fire until welded, HA unaffected)
Zero Point Zero (A central place. Perhaps a choke point, perhaps something else)
Just ideas to throw in here and there, but it is your map and you can do with it what you wish...
