After Playing 2.0 Since Its Release (everyday)...

I've concluded that both sides are FAIRLY well balanced. You just needs teams that know what they are doing. I DO think Marines have an advantage or rather the aliens have less of advantage....
Reason being...the fade. They nerfed the fade with acid rocket being 3rd hive capability. I played many rounds where it was 2 hive lock down, almost every res lock down...but aliens couldn't win because they lack no long range weapon. Coupled with grenade spam, insanely accurate turret farms, there is no way a gorge was getting in. At least if the fade had acid on 2nd hive capability I think it would really even the playing field. Asides from that, I think it is very well balanced.
They really need to bring a better long range weapon back for the aliens...after all, almost all they have a up close weapons.

2 hive lockdowns are VERY rare, and its usually your own fault

I second that
I mean, the guy who made this game couldn't possibly know what he's talking about when he says Aliens win 9/10 games.
now its like 8/10.
In CS in 9/10 games the bomb never gets layed, who gives a ****.
Large games (12 vs. 12 and up) usually favor towards Marines.
- Resources tend to build up faster with more Marines on the team and this allows them to upgrade much faster and get those much needed weapon upgrades to tear through the Alien Carapace, in to which, is what most Alien teams WILL build first.
Smaller games (8 vs. 8 and down) usually favor towards Aliens
- Extremely higher rate of resource collecting for the Aliens. Although this is the case, Marines still have a shot at winning the game if the right moves are made. There are very few strategies in a game of this size since it's cut-throat action and one Marine mistake can cost them the game.
With the new 2.1 patch coming out, I believe it will change the game from a biased-Alien game to a biased-Marine game. Everybody will be complaining about the Marines winning all the time. I only say this because I just finished winning five straight games on the Marine team.
Go figure.

This has little to do with the question at hand but I can't resist...

laff.
If i could only ever get on that server....
I sometimes manage to get in, but playing from Europe, my ping is always 200ish and i always get kicked first because of reserved slot

Yup, i've found this too.
If the rines can lock down a single hive securly enough, they can pretty much make a stand there indefinitly. They can't expand very much, but they can sit there and hold off an Alien win for as long as they please.
I played a game yesterday where the Aliens were walking all over the marines. We were just about to set up a third hive when the rines shotty rushed it and took it over. Ok, no big deal. But then they threw up a PG and a big TF, and rines came pouring out of the hive. So we struck back at their main base, and wiped it out. BUT, they relocated everything to their hive... and suddenly Aliens couldn't win. They had full tech, several HAs, HMGs, and GLs (spamming everything in sight). And aliens just could NOT get in there. There were way too many turrets and grenades for even a Carp/Celery Onos to rush in. And the halls were waaaay too tight for multiple Onos. I tried to lead a 3 onos Rush, but all that happened was I charged in and the other 2 Onos stood behind me (no room to go around) until I died, then the second guy started bashing stuff and died, and then the third guy decided (wisely) to get the hell out of there. There was no place to sneak a Gorge in, and Lerk spam is useless vs HA. Basically, without our third hive abilities (Charge/Web/ARocket/Xeno/Primal), we had nothing effective to crack the rine base with. The match ended up lasting almost and hour and 45 minutes, until an Admin decided to change the map because everyone was bored.
And i'm a little more than concerned that the 2nd hive abilities are gonna be nerfed. 1 Hive lockdown = Win? That would suck the fun right out of NS
but every match ( a lot! ) I have played so far the aliens have won everytime expect for 1 round where the marines rushed with shotguns...
I would suggest trying your ''easy pub marine win' strategy on another 2.01b server. Take command there and see if you can maintain the same win ratio.
Basically I'm trying to say, see if your strategy works when you play with average marines versus average aliens.
I'll agree with you that an excellent marine team that has 10+ players has a good chance of winning on a 2.01b server.
