<div class="IPBDescription">Problem Running NS</div> Today is my first day to NS. I have the CS - Retail 1.5.
I installed the NS v2.0. Went to join a friend server/then tried every other server. My consol switches from CS console to NS console. Then I recieve a error. And of course I don't have the map, and I also tried just ablout every other server. Same error message.
Message was - saying someything like You dont have map ns_lost.bsp server will DL the map.
Then it says " Your .dll [cl_dlls\client.dll] differs from the server's, Host Error: Disconnected." Then I downloaded the map and it said the same error, just not the me not having the map error.
If anyone can help me i'd really apreciate it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You are running NS 1.0 if you receive that error, or you do not have NS 2.0 fully installed. Download NS 2.0 from one of our approved mirrors (such as those listed <a href='http://www.readyroom.org/links.html' target='_blank'>here at readyroom.org</a> ) and run the install again.

    Hummm, thanks for the info.
    Although, when I downloaded it, I downloaded it from a site that is listed there.
    I'm trying it again, but from a differant site. Thanks. And good luck to me! <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Indeed it is correct, it's C:/Sierra/half-life. It made a new folder in the sierra folder. Retail Version CS is C:/Sierra/counter- strike, now I understand why they made it this way, for Half-*Life* Mods n such like this.

    When you start NS, does it open in the NS menu and background? Or do you have to 'activate' it through the custom game menu?

    i think since its retail cs, you need to put the ns directory into the cs directory.

    I connect to the server via GameSpy 3d, Then the console comes up, or whatever it's called when you join a game. Then after it says Welcome .......
    And gives ya all your info n such, it switches to the NS theme I guess you can call it. Then the error message comes.

    Edit - Gamespy *3d*

    I don't have to activate anything, it auto swtiches to NS, in like 2 seconds. Differant backround what have you. And I dont think I need to change any of the file locations. in the folder C:/Sierra there are 2 differant folders, one is Counter-Strike the other is Half-Life. In the Half-Life folder is where all the files are, obviously.

    Hmmm... what about if you use the ingame NS server browser?

    I've never tried to get in the actuall game, only joined a server through Gamespy

    Hummm, I think something is wrong, I take it you boot up CS, go to load game, or whatever it was to load up a mod, choose from the list, and hit "activate" ? Cause I just went to do that, and Natural Selection wasn't listed there. So i'm assuming Raptor was right about the location of the files?

    Best chance is to back up the ns directory first just in case. Then reinstall the mod, placing the ns directory in the cs directory. Then if it works, place your orginal directory on top of the newly installed one and presto.

    Well, got it to work, deleted NS and re-installed it, placing the NS folder in the Counter-Strike folder, thanks for the time and concern, appreciate it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
