Virus Emails :/

I've taken extra special measures to ensure that my email adress isn't easily visable, as an anti-spam measure. I don't register for anything that doesn't allow you to hide your email (or I use my hotmail account instead), and whenever I post my email in any public place I add stuff to it so that scripts don't pick it up (replacing @ with (at), adding the words NO SPAM to the email).

But for some reason, this past week I've been getting all these blatantly obvious virus emails. My antivirus is picking thme up just fine, but it's getting to be a real pain in the arse to have to wait for the damn things to download, and to click "ok" ten times to all VET's "this email's got a virus in it!" messages. The thing is, I can't block the adresses because they from a whole bunch of random ones. Anyone know any way of stopping them? :/

Disconnect yourself from the intarweb and use the postal service. It's a simple as 1-2-3!

This is why I own a webserver, and have 3 different email addresses. Obvious spammer, suspected spammer, and... umm... friends. Those are the only people I trust not to spam me.

Well, that and that whole "web design company" crap. But that's just a sideline to get me the email addresses.

I for one, am glad that all the script kiddie virus makers these days are happy with simple crap like spamming your inbox or deleting .avi's, and only on Windows systems. Now, a virus that makes your hard drive head scratch the platter, or screw up your bios now that's a bad virus. Good thing most virii writers are too lazy to do that kinda hard stuff anymore. :P

The good virus writers got to be too mature to do it any more... I think there are very very few actual virus <i>writers</i> out there any more. 99% of what goes as viruses is just script kiddies thinking they're cool because they can do tracert, a DNS lookup and edit basic code.

No just too lazy, but too stupid. Welcome to Generation D, where they don't even bother to write good viruses. If only you guys had gone through the NYB virus or ILoveYou worm in the mid-nineties...

hehe i was around when the ILoveYou virus was big news good job i only had a P-75 back then with no internet lol.

Anyway back on topic your choices are to setup a filter in outlook to sort all messages with attachments into a folder so u can just delete them......altho u still have to download em.

Secound choice and the most scary one switch to AOL with thier ISP virus filters....told u scary, i heard BT openworld has virus filters to but im not sure on that one.
