The Game Gets Really Bright

well when ever i play all of a sudden the screen will get really bright and then when i close HL and go back to my desk top, everything there is also bright, i run my HL on Direct 3d on a res of 1024x768 and i cant run it in open gl cuz it really lags me, cany anyone help?

When your desktop is bright, go to program files, ns folder, then reset gamma. Or, if its still bright, try doing ctrl+alt+del > Processes, and close hl.exe or cstrike.exe whichever..
