mroe ontopic:
well it would be very interesting if each OS got a personality, and its shaped based on the user - but still it should be helpful at all times otherwise it would just get plain annoying.
and i would guess that at some point it can also understand Spoken words from almost any person, then a mouse and keyboard would get "old" when it comes to navigating the OS, you could just dictate a text that the OS should write down - but then there are problems as changing typesize and stuff, since its not control via thoughs but verbal control...
of course this Verbal control wouldnt change much when it comes to games, but it would add new possibillities when it comes to bots and controlling them(you could in theory code a personality for the more important characters in the game, like the "your" sidekick, this could also apply to Adventure games, so a whole new "persuade" factor comes into the picture...
...of course all this is in a prolly distant future.
Sounds very interesting though, wonder how long before this kind of thing is made into an OS. Something that could learn to drive, or fly an aircraft could revolutionise transport, greatly reduce car accidents and eliminate problems with pilot fatigue. I can see militaries snapping it up though: this is exactly what modern militaries would want.
Sounds a little too ambitious to me.
This sounds like a very interesting concept. I would love to be able to fiddle with this program. Try and outsmart it. Trick it into thinking that I'm thinking something I'm not. I can see this being of great help in elderly assistance robots and in-car driving assistants.
But I think there would be a large number of people that would consider a machine knowing what they're thinking to be extremely disquieting.

"NOOOOOOOOOO"
Freaky stuff indeed , brings us back to Assimov... how to implement morality in AIs...
Barely related note : the "Global Ecophagy" threat must have inspired the NS story , in which the naughty nanobots render entire regions sterile...
