Buuut.....
Regen/Celerity Onos vs 1 nade spammer & 1 shotgunner = Dead onos

ns_lost, I was regen onosing, and as I jumped over the railing on the right side as you enter Marine Start (Right above the res node), I was hit square in the face by one grenade, and two shotgunners got a shot off each, and I was dead that fast.
500hp, 150 armor, 45 points regen, and I was dead in three seconds

This has happened to me more times than I can count. And I'm not a bad alien player or Onos either. Usually I can go 20 to 35 kills before a death as an Onos (If I do die). But when I do die, it's either from getting stuck on 25 lvl 3 turrets or at the hands to a couple shotgunners and a 'nade spammer. As long as a shotgunner has some distance between himself and an onos, the onos is down to 240 health by the time he gets there (even with celerity and charge, at least as long as the shotgunner has another shotgunner or lmg with him. With an HMG it doesn't even last that long)

I just want to know what the team has in mind for the shotgun in 2.1? It seems to me that either it should be toned way down in power to fit the early/mid game weapon that it was meant to be, or up the res enough that it costs as much res as a powerful weapon that it is should cost....

I hate whiners who whine without cause, but in this I'm gonna whine, 'cause I know some changes need to be made.

Anyone else have this happen to them very often?
A 10 res weapon vs a 100 res creature shouldn't do as much as it does.

Edit:
Sorry, I missed the big shotgun post. Just ignore this one, seems like everything has already been beaten to death in that other 8 page topic.

    Hmm

Lvl 3 shotguns + Lvl 3 grenades tends to = death if you weren't careful.

I didn't see it, but I guess you weren't careful. Stop nerfing marines AND STOP NERFING ALIENS. Anyways...I'm happy the way the game is...Skulks seem a bit faster (naturally no movement) in 2.01d

yeah onos die really friggin fast, but if they didnt we would have marine players complaining that their top end guns at level 3 cant kill stuff.

If they had level 3 weapons, assuming you played on 2.01d, it would take a total of 90 res to reach level 3. Now drop the 10 res for the shotgun, 20 for the GL, and you have a 120 res investment (maybe not all of that res was strictly an investment for that one shotgun/GL, but that’s how the system is setup for the marines -- the team benefits from a general upgrade) going up against a 100 res investment. (Not to mention, two is better than one) If it were not a 2.01d server, the cost would have even been more for level 3 weapons. And if you don’t agree with my logic there, just think of the gameplay issues. Since Onos no longer need 3 hives, it can no longer be the end-game unit it once was. I can generally get an Onos, if saving all of my res, around seven minuets. If the marines were unable to kill an onos with proper teamwork, then the games would be over extremely quickly once everyone had enough to go Onos. Even though the Onos has undergone some balance issues, it is still very useful combined with Umbra, and if you are lucky enough to get a group together on a pub, healspray. No alien class can rambo off and destroy 3 or 4 marines of equal skill anymore. You have to start to adapt, because the Onos is not underpowered - he just needs some help from his buddies.
