Trouble Listening To A Cd While Playing

<div class="IPBDescription">help?</div> Okay this happened with CS and considering how it happened it'll probably happen with NS too.
Playing the CD in Windows Media Player, I'd be listening to the 2nd track but when I join a game it'd start playing the first *at the same time*. When I "esc" the 1st track would stop, then start when I resume. Weird.
With Musicmatch Jukebox whenever I join or resume a game it goes to the next track, or it won't go but will pause the track while I'm "esc"ed out of the game.
So can anyone recommend a program that will just play the tracks and won't let any other programs interfere with it?
Thanx! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

However, the other side of me says, why would you listen to music? doesn't it hamper your gaming?

Hell no, I have the game volume really low and my music blasting away yet I always do good and generally get first <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Most servers run Cheating death now... so watch it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
EDIT: FOr winamp, I think you need to grab the HL-Amp plug-in.
I listen to music when playing in pubs. You just gotta make sure it doesn't have too much bass or you can't hear people coming. It does hurt your playing some, but it's a bit more fun, for me at least.

It's awsome when you're the last of your squad, then suddenly the DooM theme starts...
I would suggest converting your CD to MP3, place them in NS\music and activate the music by cl_musicenable 1 (think that's it, if not, Advanced Configs or something).
I'd suggest volume 90, 100 or 120. (Maybe 80 even).
I think the console command is cl_musicvolume "90".
If the music stops, which it usually does when you die, type "nexttrack" in console.

cheating death doesn't catch cheaters, it just alters the way the engine is rendered and misreports data to dll injection programs. it's not csguard or hlguard, and wont ban you because it's not scanning for files.
the current version of ogc lite that i found is said to be cd proof, but haven't checked it as i dont use it personally

Actually no. It's techno and it's pretty loud but I can still hear alien footsteps and everything. Also it motivates me.
Come to think of it, the games in which I've been playing with music playing I've been doing VERY well in.
WinAmp didn't work btw. I joined a server and my computer restarted. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'll try some of the other suggestions though.

Nobody knows how to do this? I don't want to have to set up the files in HL and have to bind a key to nexttrack. I can't believe there isn't a music program that just plays the music without interferance!

I have my gamma and brightness set really low, so maps are dark and moody. When I attack a marine, 95% of the time I'll have no idea where he is. I have to rely on sound, but most importantly, my brain. I keep track of the marine, what he might do, how he's moving, and what gun he has. I'll mentally keep track of the amount of ammo he has left to choose when I need to attack during weapon changing / reloading sequences.
I'm getting quite good at it too. It makes NS equally a mental exercise as it is a skill exercise.
I suggest other people try it. It's sick how you hone yourself so that you don't NEED scent of fear, you just keep a mental map of every marine's position.
But if you don't want to make an investment, I think the commands are cd loop (track number) and cd stop.

Oh, and Rat. Look into alternates for your music control needs... one of the next things to be dealt with is getting VAC integration finalized in the DLL.

To expand on what talesin said: ogc lite is still a client hook, and vac will still see it as a cheat; and will ban your wonid if it sees the hook.
