I had a friend once who was complaining of a persistent and strange buzzing comin from his PC. I told him this was normal but we took the case off for a look inside anyway. This mad wasp came out and stung me on the hand before getting away.

I can't imagine how it got in. Well... there is a bit of the case missing (after he pulled it off and it bent), but I can't see it staying in there.

Do insects have it in for computers or what?

well i know ants LOVE electrical machinery and wires, it has something to do with the magnetic fields , i'm sure other bugs may be attracted aswell, and i believe the term bug, originated from actual bugs crawling into the computers.

    /me nods.

I read somewhere that the term debugging came when one of those big old computers was having problems so this General went in to see if one of the connecters had come loose and he found this mouth stuck in some wires causing a short, and then I guess all the programmers had a laugh over it and started some jokes.

YEah, back in the day of vacum tubes, I Diddn't think it could happen with PCB's though...

    You think you have <a href="http://users.bigpond.net.au/zimbu/cooling.jpg" target="_blank">problems</a>?

This is the only way I can be sure that my CPU doesn't turn into a brief flow of molten silicon. With the fan off, it gets to 70c and automatically shuts down when playing games or other high-end stuff. With the fan on, it doesn't go above 63ish. No moth-related problems as yet (About 1.5 years), but occasionally I have to stick the vacuum cleaner in there to suck out some of the dust.

    **Edit**
And no, I don't overclock. It's an AMD 1.2GHZ T-Bird running at 1.2GHZ (Sometimes 1.211 for reasons unknown).

I have a MUCH bigger deskfan at the moment, with a nice piece of metal redirecting the cool cool air both onto my legs and straight into the heart of my computer. Just temporary until I get a new case fan. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

me never goes above 70C under load...

    /me needs water cooling...

Yeah, i had a plan a while ago to hook up a few cooler matrixes out of an old car, with a pump, hommade water block and resivoir, adn ake a water cooling rig...

    You know, im bored as hell, i think I'll do that <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Hrm... idel mine sits at 135F, under load it's around 155...
lesseee if I remember my physics: Tf=9/5*Tc+32, so.... Tc=5/9*(Tf-32)... hich means

    Idle: 57.22222222222222222222222222222
    Under Load: 68.333333333333333333333

the side panel of my case is bjorked due to bad storage at a LAN, and has a nice big gap- I'm pretty sure that's where the bug got in. why? I have no Idea, as my case doesn't have any of thouse fancy lights (does have some one the motherboard thou.)

What I want is a clear side to my case, and some flexable red lightstrips to put in there, but that's going to have to wait until I buy my books for next semester.
