Processing Still A Double Seige Point

Imagine our horror...
Having a nice ol' game today, 3rd hive had just gone up when someone mentioned the marines had made a big push for processing. A huge battle ensued but we didn't push quite hard enough: seiges went up at lower processing res point and DCD hive went down.

Shaken by the loss of the hive but still confident of being able to win the game back we continued to attack....when Ventilation hive came under attack. We searched frantically for the seiges, checking everywhere, but there was no sign until someone looked at the processing marine base. Sure enough, there were 2 seiges there merrily slamming into the hive. I F4ed and went into spectator mode to make absolutly sure, and there were no other seiges: the mrines had seiged DCD and Ventilation from a single position with one tf.

Now I sat through endless games in 1.04 where hera might as well have been called ns_processing. This was supposed to have been fixed! I'm entirely unsure how this managed to slip through the playtesting. If this isn't fixed extreamly quickly hera will once again fade away from many servers.

Note: with was on a 2.01d server, but none of the changelogs altered seige distance so I can't see how it could have been that.

sadly many of the map bugs haven't been fixed (take ns_nothing and the onos trying to climb back up the latter from viaduct)

Yeah, we had this happen too. And understand, this isnt a small map bug, this is something like every single person knew and we were confident it would be fixed in 2.0 ( that's probably why almost no one bothered to siege).

Uh....huh?How can you do it?The way i looked at the map, thats not supposed to be possible....can you show a screenshot that has the area where the TF can be placed, circled in red or something?

It is still possible to siege both hives from processing.

It is now also possible to spore marine spawn and indeed processing from a vent.

Whilst I understand your frustration, try to look at it from this perspective - the siege spot in processing is a tactically important area, like the double node or reception. It could be argued that by giving the map one more area worth fighting over, you make the map more tactically interesting. Kharaa can choose to secure the area or not, at their own risk.

I actually rather like Hera with the new layout. Processing is a death-trap for marines, so it's not like it's hard to defend.

So you're saying it's intentional? I personally have no problems with the double siege point for reasons you stated

Let's see. Marine point where they can take down 2 hives, and secure it with enough turrets to never let the aliens have them back. Then they all advance to Archiving, and take it out. Btw, there are 3 entrances, one from data ( put some mines there, blocked), one from a doorway that's also covered by a wall, and one from a vent. Best place to siege, but easy place to pick them from.

Sure, onos and such can attack them, and in 2.01d they may be even able to take down the turrets, but without stomp, and umbra, they're pretty helpless.

even if it wasn't intentional, it is one hell of a place to try to defend.. you get spored from the vent, spored from inside data core (which is the easiest place to lerk in by flying around the circular wall) ...

if marines can successfully hold it then they deserve to keep it in my opinion...

same with the double res point. Holoroom is a real bugger to hold on to... get two hives up, sit on the top ledges, and bile bomb it all. easy

    Actually i call it ns_rushtoreloctoprocessing.

    Just as I call ns_nothing, ns_rushtocargohive.

And i knew it was still a double segie point so people think i'm weird when i say we have to keep them out of there at ALL COSTS.

I think that it isnæt possible for the same siege cannon to hit both hives, one may reach the structures around the hie and shoot at them, but I belive it requires a minimum of 2 cannons to siege both hives. Still isn't good though.

I was in this very game. Imagine to my amazement after dropping a MC only for it to explode in my face. Thankfully i teleported back to archiving.
The hive took a few shockwaves now and again but it didnt actually die. And the only sieges were in processing. They had all the equipment. everything. Aliens won too! despite the odds, the marines all decided to have heavy armour which was quickly taken care of by 3 onos stampeding through the map, destroying the camp in Holoroom and processing.

I dont have a problem either with hera, in 1.04 I always protected processing first from the start and I still do that.

But I think without processing, hera would be a pain in the butt map for rines cuz its way too good for the aliens. Anyway I love to play alien on hera

I havn't run into this problem yet, but seeing as ns_hera is one of my favorite maps, I hope it is fixed.

And in reply to Elderwyrm's comment: Bilebomb is a second hive ability, and if the marines have seiged both Vent and Data, you're pretty screwed.

I was talking about Marines holding holo in general.
