Gundam Bf1942 Mod...almost Done!
<div class="IPBDescription">Muhahah...</div> This mod has been in development for quite a while, almost 3+ years. We had to change alot because of new bf1942 patches and such, and now are incorperating code from SW and such. Its the only engine we can use with wide open terrain, and options for map wide scaleablility. This mod is being done by a buncha school friends of mine who just have a passion for giant robots whomping up on eachother <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Whats interesting is that the mod is sort of a hybridish RPG/action game. We are not focusing on gundam to gundam combat, we are focusing more on mobile suit vs mobile suit combat, so everything isnt so overpowered. You can cosomize the base mobile suits you recieve with more weapons, armor, tracking systems, radar systems, different looks on the mobile suit, jumpjets ect. All of this requires a massive ammount of modeling (done by me and 6 others!) All this info on modifying is stored on a central server...anyways I have to go because my parents are yelling at me, so by. I will try and post more info later.
Comments
We have two base mobile suits (I am not allowed to release screenshots yet, so I will have to use drawings...but they represent them fairly well.)

These are the only two, but more are on the way. You can customize these two out the wazzu...like this drawing, representing mine <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

2 pop out 3 barrled 105mm cannons in the arms, 2 x 30 mm vulcan gun, fire-linked, mounted in head. Beam rifle, backup 90mm 40 round machine gun. Ohhh yeah. But whatever jumpjets I put on this sukah...its way to heavy.
Empty 44.3 metric tons; max gross 71.4 metric tons; mass ratio 1.42
Heh.
/edit: oops, you beat me to it.
So if you need reference pictures....

It's about 310ish pages long (If you don't count the adds and whatnot)
So yeah, I recognise about 8 of the above Gundam stories... the rest mean nothing to me.. but if you need a reference pic from any of the above series. Lemme know...
<img src='http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/08thmsteam/rx-75.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
Yes we have those completed....really wish I could show you guys screen shots, but all my buddies also check the ns forums..
Quick question: Can you get the beam axes that are common amongst the Zaku mobile suits?
So, yay.
One thing though... Shouldn't you use the actual GM? the real mass-produced federation mecha? The RX was a proto-type, and was significantly scaled down for the production lines...
Just a small quarrel that...
Cause I'll be flyin the Zaku][!!!!
And for Zeon Artillery, that one mecha from the start of 0083 Stardust memory... forget what it was called, but it was hover-tech, and had only one artty cannon.
Seig Zeon! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

It's called a heat hawk. I imagine if Grey's going to be flyin that decked out zaku, then the actual weapons will probably be put in...
We have two base mobile suits
Also, no gundams in the game

That picture contradicts everything you said. The RX-79 is a Gundam. <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->
RX-79[G] Gundam Mass Production Ground Type from 0083, note the MASS production, they were not rare.
Now onto the units added ONLY for developers...muhahah.
Mine.

There will be at least 10 different kinds of base mobile suits in the game, which will be modifyable up to 450 different combinations.
I would guess we are about...40-50% done?
Much more modeling to do
Some nit bits of coding
Mapping (lots and lots of mappingzors)
I think the system of close-person team working is going fairly well, all you have to do is pick up teh phone, and ask a guy if he has something ready or not, or when does he think its ready, or even just in the school lunch room, we talk about upcoming goals and whatnot...very fun.
GMs pwn j00!!
which gundam universe is this game based on?
GMs pwn j00!! <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
GM GunCannon... indeed, fairly good for just a GM...
The GM Guntanks rather stick though...
And whoever picked the Gelgoug as their's has taste...
Anyway, If I'm remembering right, Zeon worked in base groups of 3, while the federation (once they got their mecha) worked in groups of 5...
Zeon had far better mecha, the the Feddies had a higher standard of training...
And yes, the RX-GM was in 08th, but their parts were rare, because by the end of the series, they had patch-work RX-GM and standard GM parts.
For the guy who asked what universe:
The original one, which is concered about the war between a group of colonies who attempt to suceed from the Earth's Federation government. However, the Dutchy of Zeon was far from honourable in their methods.
In the end, the Federation won the war, it came to be known as the One Year's War.
Series:
Mobile Suit: Gundam
MS:G: 08th MS Team
MS:G: 0080 The War in the Pocket
MS:G: 0083 Stardust Memory
[movie] MS:G: Char's Counterattack
and a few others that I can't remember.
Anyway, good luck with the project, sounds worthy.

thanks, this is what i was wanting to know.
damn, if the models look accurate (i sincerely hope they should) I'd probably go out and buy the game to play this mod... even though I'd be jealous everytime I see a dev in their special MS... oh well, as long as the MS are customizable I'll be happy.
The Kaempfer would be my MS of choice...

either that or maybe Neue Ziel or Xamel

Seig Zeon! I shall use my modified Zaku cut you to shreds with my Heat Hawk!
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Back on topic, the mod sounds better and better every time I come to this thread.
I'm curious about how players will choose what modifications they want on their Mobile Suit. Will you have to re-mod the suuit every time you join a server, or will there be a special window/menu before you enter a game where you can save your custom MS?
A story for yall <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Me and 6 others, in slightly modified MX's, walking down a street, searching for the evil Gelgoug, which is one of the modelers suit. We were reinacting one of the fight sceens in 0083. I see a flash of blue....fire!! Hundreds of bullets splatter against a wall, and track the movement. But....nothing. We circled around the building....and nothing. WHAM the Gelgoug lands strait on my buddy, swirls around, yanks out teh heat hawk, slices another one of my buddies down, and fires a point blank machine gun blast into another team mates chest. 3 down in less than 7 seconds...holy crap! I turn, and run, yelling for artillary support. Guntanks on the hill fire, trying to track the blue blur following me. Im hit in the back, I swirl around and spray randomly with my 90mm uzi look alike, and get my head chopped off. I watch in sadness as the **** chops the artillary crew into peices.... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

holy f*ck, i just got dorked.
anyway, cool-lookin mod, guy. i'll dust off the old (crappy, pos, disgusting, normal version of) BF1942 to run this mod. sounds very cool. ever play that gundam game for dreamcast? i think the concepts are the same. squad-based (?), military combat (not ridiculous DBZ crap inside robots) (lol).
damn... after reading this, I feel like buying bf1942 even more now...
I still want my kaempfer... <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

I think I'll take that as a compliment, irreguardless of intent.
I just soak up this random knowledge bits, and rarely get a chance to use them...
But yeah... I guess I'll have to obtain a copy for this... forgot if it was mentioned, but whats the Ideal range of people for a game? (NS has 8v8[thusly 16])
