Don't trust "alpha" versions in terms of optimizations and good coding.

Good find "Killymagee", downloading now. I've played all previous versions. Don't plan on buying it, but heck, still gotta play the demo. It's STAR WARS!!!!

[Edit]Scratch that, I'm Waiting in Line to Download. Then I'll download.[/Edit]

hehe thanks guys. Acutally I "stumbled" onto this reading some other forums, and I thought just maybe someone had already posted it. Well, thats good that nobody did (I HATE posted stuff people have already hehe) glad to help. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Damn this game is fun. Granted I hate the forced 3rd person view for Lightsaber mode.

My computer is 600MHz and plays the thing just fine, thank you. And it's wonderful: nothing beats dueling 3 dark jedi with only your trusty lightsaber staff, or 2 trusty lightsabers, or 1 trusty lightsaber. And then there's the neverending fun of both pushing unsuspecting blaster weilding bozos off cliffs, and jumping up, force pulling some brainless lackeys, and watching them fall to their doom. They've also given a bit of update to the "slicey" graphics: you can cut practically anything. And it leaves marks. Cutty marks.

I used to like jedi outcast, but not anymore. Maybe its fun for about 10 mins then it just gets boring with the same stuff over and over again.
  • JavertJavert Join Date: 2003-04-30 Member: 15954Members
Played first mission of demo. Little graphical improvements. BUT, it has Direct X 9, so we'll be seeing it in benchmarks. Gameplay almost the same. Same weapons, force powers, baddies. Characters customization is cool and you get to choose your weapons before the start of missions. Limiting, but i guess on the strategic side.
Though it should've been an expansion rather than a full on new game. Except for the saber fights, there's nothing mind blowing demo-wise (unlike the last fight in the Outcast demo).
    IMO.

/eeerrr well, gets resurected by the darkside and blows up the planet where SmokeNova is and his 644,675,684,884,234,657,869,123 clones
with the new uber death star.

    Sorry, coil D:!

Anyway, I downloaded the demo and still...it's...well...a bit boring. Slicing and dicing people gets old after you do it countless numbers of times.

UHhh Javert, don't diss it after playing only one of the levels...I beat the demo on Padawan...the second level is full of generic blaster dude and usually a Reborn Evil Jedi per 2 Blaster guards. Some use dual lightsabers, some use single, some have none but all the force powers. Nothing funner then kicking a jedi off a ledge and hearing him scream as he plummets

Very fun. I like that second level at the beginning (with the cultists), you get into like 5000 lightsaber duels. I always end up using Push and tossing them off the cliff, has anyone actually sliced them in half?

Oh, very funny, one time I was fighting, and I cornered him, and he said, "Let's see how good you are..." and jumped off.

I kicked a guy while dueling in the temple level, he used force push when he was on the floor and I got thrown off the cliff. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> Cool. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Don't worry, full on dissing will come AFTER I play the second level. But seriously, I think I'm quite fair, not as bad as dissing.

The more I play, the more I'm liking this game. I quicksave before every lightsaber battle, and play it over 8 times at leat till I move on. It's great fun. When you fight 3 at once with one lightsaber and without using force speed, it gets pretty intense. I like force pulling them into my saber, or running forwards, force pushing, then stabbing them. It's awesome when you kick someone down and they roll around the floor, jump on your head, then start shooting lightning from their fingers. Man, I'm gonna need to buy the full game; this never gets old. Heck, I'd still be playing Jedi Outcast if I had it.

This is ironic. Just last monday I was at the local LAN center playing Outcast. You know, they have a pretty kickass structure to a lot of the servers. Making it so that you have to duel, or its just talking. And to duel, you gotta do things right. Unless your a dark jedi, and then they strike you down, but if your good, its pretty sweet. If your 2 light side though, you go into the duel, bow, then fight(bow by having lightsaber out but not drawn, and crouch. It looks like a bow) Then, its on. And man, its fun.

Played the demo last night. Double ended saber kicks ****. I love it. Suprisingly dual sabers isn't that good though.

Also, the Tatooine level sucks. A lot. Play the 2nd level to actually have, you know, fun.

Also, at Quakecon lots of warez monkeys were playing the leaked alpha of this and even w/ the demo I've noticed lots of improvements (as any sane person would expect), so to the hax0rs of your out there, keep in mind your version = crap on a stick. So dl the demo then use THAT to decide if you like the game. Just not the Tatooine level.

    P.S. Double ended saber rocks.

It's a nice , noobernaded demo. The single handed saber is messed up , and the others have a ridiculous zelot and ridiculous overpowerd skills.
  • pardzhpardzh Join Date: 2002-10-25 Member: 1601Members
The two SP levels were fairly fun, I was a Rodian with two lightsabers running around slicing things.

I might buy the full game since I've never played JK2's SP.

This game will be a hot contender for our local LANs - we're usually doing saber-only fights in Outcast, and that's where JA adds a lot of spice. The SP is, as usual, so-so.

BTW, sorry, DOOM, but I love the dual sabers. Staff is nice and all, but nothing's cooler than slicing one guy up from head to toe while tossing the other saber down the throat of a guy twenty meters away >:)

Well, I went through the single player, and as said, its so-so. But I can just imagine the saber duels...

Though, I'm wondering how their gonna do force speed in multi, being it has a matrix effect(that is VERY sweet).

Nother thing I'm wondering, is if it will have the duel feature JO had. That was nice, and all I ever did.

I just think that overall the thing needs to be a bit slower paced....like, run slower, slice slower, stuff like that. That way, we can all ogle over the cool saber stunts, and the such.
  • OttoDestructOttoDestruct Join Date: 2002-11-08 Member: 7790Members
I started talking about how cool JA would be a while ago on the forums, only to be met with "Pshaw j00 nubcaek KOTOR is sooo much bettar!". I beg to differ. Akimbo sabers. Saber staffs. Single sabers. And more customability than you can shake a stick at. Yea sure the single player may be trash but its been that way since.. er.. JKII.. the actual JKII.. the first incarnation.. not the 50 billion reincarnations still using JKII.. when the crap is lucas arts going to use JKIII. Then like I said theres multiplayer, with three different sabers, multiple stances for each one, and lots of force powers, I don't think its going to get boring very quickly. I only hope its going to be more mod friendly than JO.
  • QuaunautQuaunaut The longest seven days in history... Join Date: 2003-03-21 Member: 14759Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
Well, I personally think that in the combat area, both KOTOR and JA are lacking.

JA is so fast, it doesn't feel right.

KOTOR, you have no control over the type of stuff and when you hit.

    So its all wierd.
