<div class="IPBDescription">suprisingly good, for another ww2 game</div>At Quakecon they had a pre-release of the Call of Duty demo on display (complete w/ their eerie looking bombed-out house E3 booth) but thought "meh, yet ANOTHER stupid ww2 shooter. Geez I wish they'd start ww3 so we'd have a new game to play..."
But for some reason when the demo came out I grabbed it to test the speed of my new cable modem. So when I played it, I was shocked. It is suprisingly good. I think the main thing it had going for it was the element of teamwork, with your AI allies actually kicking ****, instead of just wasting oxygen. And with the sound and everything, the environment was quite immersive. It actually FELT like I was in that godforsaken town.
Will I buy it? With Jedi Academy, Homeworld 2, HL2, and Max Payne 2 on the horizon, not a chance. But its good nonetheless so maybe when its bargin bin I'd recommend people to give it a try.

But Call of Duty is a amazing game. I too, much like DOOM, thought "Not another one...we need some Desert Storm games...", but when it got on Fileplanet, I got it immediately(friend is letting me use his pay subscription while he is at Military College), and started it up. 5 seconds after the first level starting, I just about crapped my pants. It was amazing....bombers flying overhead, parachutes falling, huge rounds flying at our planes, lights everywhere, burning in the distance, and lots and lots of Ruins. But they weren't just ruins- they were bunkers for those damned Nazi's. And they took out 15 of my squad. I remember getting to the gate, reloading my carbine, looking to the right, and seeing a comrade dragging a soldier to where I was, just before he was shot 5 times through the gate, the wood splintering everywhere.
It was wonderful. And to think, it has multiplayer maps with scripted events...can you say, "Holy frickin..."(and the scripted ones happen differently depending on what your team does)
if you shoot someone in the heart with a .45acp...
do they die?

Well, that all depends. Were you running at them? Strafing? Crouching? Prone? Standing still? And what the hell kind of gun is that? But ya, if you get someone in the heart, their down. But you can nail their leg as many times as you want, before(while their on the ground) they decide to shoot you anyway.
Oh to the countrary.
Teammates *DO* die. Sure they take more hits than the average FPS teammate (which makes em even cooler) but I went on a TK spree and killed the whole squad, but just like cockroaches more showed up to "help" me. :P
last time i checked, it didn't matter how you were shootin' at em. if you put a bullet through someone's chest, they usually die. they didn't wear kevlar in ww2. infantry didn't wear flak jackets, either. so thus, you have no penetration issues.
in operation flashpoint you'll take max damage at point blank. is there a difference between close range and long to extreme range damage?
by the way, does this game have bullet velocity? as in, if you fire at someone a mile away, does the bullet teleport and hit them instantly?
And yes, it will do a lot more damage at point blank range, kevlar or not. Those muzzle flashes hurt, ya know.

You need anything better than a Radeon 7000.
I have a Radeon 7000.
I hate you all.
I have something thats the equivelent of a GeForce 2 MX. And I ran it at about 10-20 fps, until it got bugged. ::shrug::
