<div class="IPBDescription">not golf. i think that's golf.</div> i'm not asking for your FAVORITES here... but of music genres, who are, in your opinion, the respective MASTERS?

<b>edit: you really gotta think about this. not your favorite band.. but the fruggin MASTER of the genre.</b>

me:

rock: elton john - he's the original rawk star piamp, regardless of his sexual orientation he's piemped more h0ez than enehbuddeh, and his music is the sh*t to boot.

pop: michael jackson - he just gets me bumpin. crazy bumpin.

i think i have s'more, but they're not coming to me now.

note: this isn't meant to be a spam topic, but this is one that everyone can comment in. the off-topic forum is kinda in a slow right now, so this is just one that'll get a lot of interesting but also relevant replies. i hope.

    Master of Anime Soundtracks = Yoko Kanno

    Nobody else comes close to the range she has....

    Film Soundtrack = John Williams.

    Classical=Mozart.

    Celtic=The Chieftains.

    Infinitum, what anime did Yoko Kanno do? I think the soundtracks in the Miyazaki films are hard to beat.

    Yoko Kanno Works:
    Brain Powered
    Card Captor Sakura
    Clamp School Detectives
    Cowboy Bebop
    Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door
    Earth Maiden Arjuna
    Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex
    Jin-Roh
    Legend of Crystania
    Macross Plus
    Macross Dynamite Seven
    Memories
    Please Save My Earth
    The Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight
    The Vision of Escaflowne
    The Vision of Escaflowne: A Girl In Gaea
    Turn A Gundam
    Wolf's Rain
    X: The Movie

    Joe Hisaishi Works (The guy who does all of Hayao Miyazaki's Films):
    <a href='http://www.joehisaishi.com/english/works.html' target='_blank'>Too many to list, so just go here</a>

    I choose Yoko Kanno OVER Joe Hisaishi simply because Yoko has a far greater range than Joe has. While Joe is a master of orchaestrated works. Yoko is a master of range, doing everything from Jazz, Pop, Orchaestra, etc

    In other words... she has more... 'potential' too appeal to my musical tastes. On top of that her works appear far more frequently in anime series (As Joe only does movies) so I get to enjoy her far more often

    Rock = Aerosmith.

    Pop = Borrowers. A band that faded when they should have beaten out crud like Foo Fighters. I don't even know if they really classify as Pop though.

    Alternative = Greenday, of course.

    Rap = Insane Clown Posse. Just because they and Beastie Boys are the only ones I can stand, and they loathe Eminem almost as much as I do. And with songs like 'Still Stabbin', they're great for blasting SUV drivers.

    Soundtrack = Danny Elfman. Oh, yeah. Beetlejuice had some of the most inspiring music to date. Nightmare Before Christmas kicked much butt too.

    Techno = Information Society.

    Rage = Big Black, or possibly KMFDM.

    Remixes = McVaffe. I still can't get over what he pulled off, turning the Cutman theme into a beautiful piano piece.

    Classical = Bach. Or Tchaikovsky. Difficult call. Handel just misses out, honestly enough.

    Classical - Mozart

    Trance - Global Communication

    Alternative - Godspeed You Black Emperor! The pimpest band around.

    Soundtrack - Jeremy Soule <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Rap:
    Best breathin, Eminem, best lyrical flow hands down.
    Best that ever did it, Tupac, the 20th century prophet, bury him a G.

    Ok, from my perspective...

    -J-Rock:
    X Japan... these guys are legends and somehow make me actually like ballads.

    -Industrial:
    Throbbing Gristle, they started it.

    -Death Metal:
    Death, without question. Possibly Carcass and Slayer along with it, they're all legends.

    -Black Metal:
    Bathory, Venom can kiss my shiny metal arse, they were thrash, Bathory started it all. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    -Hardcore:
    Earth Crisis. Once again legends, but they're still cranking out material as good as ever.

    -Eurobeat:
    Bazooka Girls.... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    -Noise:
    People are probably not gonna like me for this, but Whitehouse.

    -Punk:
    NOFX. Again, more controversy. While the likes of DK and so on are good, punk as we know it owes a lot to these guys.

    -Ska:
    The Specials (Special AKA, whatever). Political ska at it's best.

    -Reggae:
    Do i need even mention this? Ok, Bob Marley and the Wailers. Enough said.

    I've never heard of him. What has he done?

    The music in Natural Selection, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, Descent, and a lot of games. He makes music for games. I think he is exceptional. Plus, most movie soundtracks suck so it was natural for me to pick him.
