sounds kind of like me and Black and White. I brought the game a few days ago for £10, found it really frustrating, hated the controls and yet, i am still playing it.

The only thing I can think of is loyatly to the game.

Did you have high expectations of the game? Or maybe you've just got so used to playing it you cant imagine what it would be like not playing it

I had the same experience with X-Com Interceptor, by all accounts a godawful game. The controls were the main flaw; you couldnt turn in little increments, you could only turn in large-ish swoops, meaning that if you wanted to hit an enemy you would have to be right up his a** (this is a space flying game in a similar mould to X-wing vs Tie fighter btw).

Why did I buy it in the first place? Because it's X-com! I loved the rest of the series (except enforcer which i'm never, ever buying), so I just had to buy this one.

The strategy elements were good, and I liked the cutscenes, a lot. Your team-mates only had about 6 different voices (3 male, 3 female) so I ended up picking my main squad based on their voices rather than actual skill, if only to avoid having a team of identical pilots. That said, getting a pilot up to maximum skill was pitifully easy.

But I liked it! The thrill of arriving at the site of a frieghter attack and hearing "This is freighter one, we are under attack" followed by the random taunt given out by your second in command, usually "Let's waste these b*****ds". And then seeing the freighter hyperjump to safety, with the satisfaction that whatever it was carrying is going to get to your base.

Plus the final mission was awesome. You have to go through a black hole, on board a modified science vessel, the Macarthur, use a nova bomb to blow up a sun (the nova bomb is very powerful ), then get back to the Macarthur before the shockwave hits, all the while fending off UFOs. Hence there are 3 endings to the game; humans lose, humans win, and humans win, but you and your squad die in the attempt.

    Meh, I rambled. Your turn.

Omikron: The Nomad Soul, a huuuuuuuuuuuge RPG/adventure/fighting/FPS game. The plot is really complicated but its a whole 4 CDs. You are basically in a huge futuristic city called Omikron. The FPS part sucked horrible, and the fighting system was a bit slow (you press punch and the guy punches 3 seconds later). But there is SO much in it, so many side missions. It took me about 10 months to beat the game the puzzles are EXTREMELY hard. But you can do anything talk to anyone, and be anyone.

I bought PEII because I was a huge fan of the original series (though I didn't like the movie very much), and I found that the game really wasn't bad. The graphics are very well done for the PS1's hardware (one of the best examples of what it's capable of, next to Dino Crisis 2... or at least to me), and while the gameplay can get frustrating, it's almost like a nice blend of RPG and survival horror (something Koudelka tried to do, but failed miserably due to the horrible battle engine).
