Yeah the background is weird, it was more of an afterthought really. I had meant to draw a backgroudn but mine kept coming out crappy. So I used some textures to give it a better look. Even if it's a little odd, the whole point was to show the cute skulk ^^ So background doesn't matter to me.

The smile looks like a cat's on purpose. In most anime cat-like characteristics are used often to show sneakiness or deceit. A chuckle would have also looked good, though.
