actually the best times of my life were still the middle school days
and I did know a lot
and high school was worthless

...

I wish I had a high school I at least *thought* was fun

I actually find this funny. In society, males have already tried to reach their tendrils of dominance EVERYWHERE. Now we experience this kind of crap even in a game?

For god's sake, I know many gamers are pretty damn stupid. We've got people on the war3 forums reiterating the same phrases due to their lack of vocabulary, people in NS calling you "n00b" coz you don't really know the map but entirely ignore the fact that you can aim 999x better than them. I can't believe we humans are so despicable as to create a hierarchy in every single environment we reside in.

Btw i'm 14.

Yes. Older gamers insulting younger gamers is part of the crumble of society caused by despicable man tendrils.

I can't help thinking a few people in this thread are maybe taking things just a *little* too seriously?

For what it's worth, I don't judge based on age, or for that matter gender. I base my opinions on people on whether they know what they're doing, and how much they whine. That person will annoy me, regardless of age.

I don't judge by voice, sometimes people's mics 'warp' voices to a certain extent

Freaq for example, has his voice warped through the mic,and now he sounds like a very old 80 year old instead of a whiny 13 year old

But then I don't really mind it....as long as they don't talk too much, because if they do it's teh mute, and if people are complaining,well.....I will really have no choice if it's my server you know, you will always have to please the good people, and ot the opposite

Here's a simple one for you.

Legally, you shouldn't even have the software. You don't like it, go cry to ELSPA.

There, that's my cruel bit out of the way. To be nice on the other hand, it's all down to stereotyping. After the nth 'OMG H4X' of 3,000 decibels over mic, you come to assume. It's unfair, it's hypocritical, it's not right, but it still happens. You can't change human nature.

Sorry kids, but life isn't going to change. In fact, complaining about it (due to that wonderful human nature) will probably just make it worse.

Add to the fact that, yes, I know you know better, but everyone eventually wakes up & goes 'Damn, they were right, I was a little b*****d!'

Sad but true.

Gamers pretty well represent society, and even more so now that gaming is pretty mainstream. Huge numbers of young people and a fair number of 30+ year olds play games. The internet as a whole is even more representative, because access is extremely common. All sorts of people everywhere are stupid, not just gamers. Deal with social situations in games (or forums) like you would deal with them in real life.

hmm wierd ... ive never been bashed (im 15, was 14 when i started playin)
although its kinda funny when ppl older than me get bashed
simple trick to stop it: dont use such a good mic (better yet use a crappy mic, and le the thing sit on you desk, they should be able to hear what you're saying but not what your voice sounds like), and if you can turn the treble off (i havent needed this) or just type, like you are right now, like we all are...

Why do people even bother with topics like this, it just raises conflict, and prevokes people to say thing which they would not have in the first place.

Point numero uno: Not everyone makes fun of 13/14 year olds, count how many people you hear make fun of you, then count how many are on the server. 7/10 times it will be about 0 making fun and 20 on the server.

Point Numero Dos: its not just you gets made fun of, there are plenty of other people. Name calling and similar things are a problem in our world today.

your best bet is to act like you can't hear them if they reply on their microphone or just to mute people like that.

The reason we abuse you 13 year olds is because you are completely retarded - No offence intended here, I'm just stating the truth. You can't aim, you don't understand the game, you think you know best and 90% of the time you go aliens and do nothing but get owned and save for onos. I have 2 brothers, 11 and 13 and both of them do this pretty much every game of NS they play.

The internet would be so much better with an age limit

Just something i saw on a post card, thought it was relevant to the topic.
And being perfectly honest the reason imo why young players are "Bashed" is because the majority WILL try to assert authority over the older gamers, they will attempt to put us down, however the "young" group as i look at it is 13-17, the majority of players who call "OMG HAX" are in this age group.

You think older gamers dont understand you and thats why they bash you (dont argue i know ) but in all honesty human nature for that agegroup, is to assert authority, to "win" a mate, to make yourself the top of the group, whys this... well its what your bodies are telling you to do, its all to do with procreation, unfortunately for you 13-15 year olds the law being the age it is set at means you are going to be high on hormones for a while yet. I know how it feels, I also know how it affects you, up untill i was 17, I was one of those "disruptive pupils", I got into many fights, Its embarasing to look back, but i met my wife at 17 and calmed right down four years on and i do have a house, a car, a wife, a baby and even a cat, now im stressed out for real

Here's what the Mexican (me) has to say...

If you are 13, 14, you should be doing other things besides gaming with your spare time. I remember when I was that old, I was out playing soccer, making music, learning about girls, and having dreams about my future. Thats what y'all should do, not waste away in front of the computer!

You have middle school to worry about. Get all your advanced high school classes done then, and you can have a blow-off Senior HS year like I am having. Worry about your school work than NS (I can't believe I just said that...).

Hey, plus, what are you doing playing such a violent game? Games like this could have drastic effects on your mind. I should know, I've seen the result of non-stop CS'ers since age 13. Why don't you have anti-FPS-Ashcroftian-type parents? Shame on them. At 17, going 18, my parents still frown on me playing these games and, on occassion, have un-installed them.

So, to sum it all up, go out and enjoy you youth while it's there. I'm sure all the older people out there will agree to do the same.

Make use of your age, since life is a one-time thing.

Well I have actually never been teased for my age. I'm 15 right now.

I don't no longer have a very high pitched voice as I used to have, and I talk quite a lot in voicecomm, but only important stuff.

I am very annoyed by younger people than me who speak in voicecomm. There was this dude on this certain finnish server who sounded a duck, or a 7-year-old kid. Well, when he joined the server he started speaking stuff like "gimme a shotgun you piece of **** **** comm" in finnish. You can just imagine how funny that sounds from someone who sounds like a 7-year-old. And he couldn't pronounce "r" right. Well, the whole team basicly made fun of him. Then he started to insult everyone with words that people of that age shouldn't even know. In the end, I ended up muting him. He was so annoying. He was a decent player though, but he kept whining and shouting at the mic.

Yeah, well, in your case, simply act decent on servers and PROVE you are a nice person, and people will treat you like that. Find a community you like and stick with it. If you are a nice guy, you will be respected for it. This isn't like school - a good number of people aren't driven by steriotypes, and most of the people who are aren't nice people anyway.

This is seriously sad.
People, just because u were once retarded when u were 13 doesn't mean that kids of the next generation are too. This is unbelievable. High pitched voices? Another form of discrimination? This is frickin' ageism man, but this time it's going to the other extreme.
As for 13's being nubs... I disagree. I've been CS'ing since 1.1. In peak form, I could snipe a LITTLE bit worse than CS CAL. I am 14. 13 at that time.
K just listen up, doesn't matter if you're 13, 14, 15 or 20 +. Humans are humans. There is no reason for anybody to "not understand" the 12 y/o's or dislike them for their differences. Physiological differences? Mabye. Psychological differences? I doubt so. The 14 y/o's in my school are carbon copies of the teens (17+) that I see. Exactly the same. High heeled boots, nail polish, mascara... spikey hair, long pants, loose pants, untucked shirts, permed hair... especially their attitude. "Yo that's so ****ing sad coz u blah blah blah blah". Sad? Where did I pick this up from? Of course, from my friends! Where did THEY pick that up from? The so-called "adults." Hell, I advise you people to read the war3x forums. Supposedly most of the users are 17+. But there is alot of bickering, arguements, looking down, gloating...

Even the kids in my school aren't like that.

What does this show?

13-15 is the age were the essences of adulthood bleed in and scourge channels of influence. The change is not complete. There is still a hint of childhood innocence. Adult trends are highly exaggerated. "HAHA look at those pants...so high up ur so sad."

16+: One word - rebelliion. Psychological gratification. Attempts at making oneself more unique. How? Personality change, appearance change, all sortsa stuff. Girls. They take a more active role in mens lives. The trend is, if you "Don't have a girlfriend, you don't have a life." Maturing. The once docile and obedient that follows others now begin to explore - and create. More personalisation, awareness of domain etc. Stupid phrases like "n00b", "nub" and "n00blar" are classical inventions that proves the previous point. Feels an extreme need to participate in "social groups". In other words, 16+ enjoy sticking together even more so than 13+. These groups create a cohesive force that can shatter the more reserved individuals. More awareness of personal values and personal image.

Once online all that goes out of the window due to ONE thing: You're anonymous! What a relief! The pressure of constantly impressing ur little friends, acting "cool" and all those other mumbo-jumbo that you have to do! Is probably more stressful than a woman trying to impress others with her appearance. Ironically, 16+ tend to think that only they as an individual are the ones that concern about lookin' bad. Fact is, the whole social group shares the same feelings. Everyone is stressed, and everyone competes to impress. Screw something up? You don't get laughed at by the individual. You get laughed at by the whole group. But it takes one person to initiate this chain reaction. Somebody brave. Crap too much digression. Um, my point is just LOOK back at the age group profile descriptions. Plz, somebody here - tell me which is more immature and childish?
