How do aliens collect resources?

I mean, yeah, you know?
I was just sitting around, thinking about how the marines all share a pool of resources, and the aliens get them individually, and thinking about how great it would be to

1) experience true online teamplay that is so rare nowadays as a marine, and

2) be able to run off as an alien and do my own thing without having to depend on my other alien teammates

when it struck me. There are only so many resource nodes on maps. How do aliens manage to collect resources for themselves if they don't share a pool? Are resources evenly distributed to all alien players, and the players then decide how to spend the resources, or is it some sort of collection method?

My question may seem a little stupid, and might have been answered before, but I couldn't find it in the search option.

Also, what is the rate of resource collection for both the aliens and marines, or is it still being balanced? On second thought, this question wouldn't do me much good without having some idea of how much something cost. So you might as well give what information you have there, playtesters.

I can keep a secret.

Aliens do have a little teamplay invovled, of course. The buildr alien builds resource collectors on nozzles throughtout the level. The resources collected are stored in a "pool" and distributed to the alien team every x seconds. (I think it's 10 seconds). So, you do need someone to go and build a few towers, but after that it is free roaming for the aliens.

As for how long it takes to emtpy a nozzle, it was just changed to 10 minutes to clear out a nozzle in a recent build. Before that it only took 5 minutes. Things do change a lot

All of which is STC. Though I'm not sure it -will-. Just that it -might-.

Right now, that system is working pretty well.

0 minutes? I'm sure it must take some time, maybe you meant 9?

When a resource nozzle dies out, does it completely stop giving resources, or just slow down significantly? I've heard of 2-hour games going on, and I would imagine them being played with no more than level ones and LMGs.

Thanks for the quick response, Comprox. Anyone willing to name some numbers? Just something to entertain and titillate us...

No numbers, sorry... they'd most likely change next week. (:

2-hour games generally see both teams low on resources, but that's not a bad thing... that late in the game, both teams *also* have many upgrades available - armor and damage upgrades for marines, for instance. So it's still a more powerful, more intense game... and when resources are that tight, you get *very* careful about keeping that grenade launcher-carrying teammate alive!
