Tipo's

Edit pleeze?
There are a couple of people in this forum that can be very critical of bad spelling. While in some cases I understand they often complain when a post is perfectly understandable and especially complain when there is a typo in the title.

I have made a few of these and noticed it before the typo nazi's did but you can't edit a thread title (Any of it!). Can it be made so that you can?

Anyway, I'm a grammar nazi. I rarely yell at people because of it, but if you want to know why:

This is a forum. You type in here from your own home. If you can't take 2 minutes to type out a well-spelled and grammatically correct post, then it probably isn't worth reading.

The only excuse I would accept is if English is your second language. But Joe Forumer will get NONE of my respect by filling his post with 'u' instead of 'you', 'urself', poor capitalization and misuse of proper nouns, etc.

However, back on topic, I agree: 'Edit' should change the topic of the forum in the main listing. Why it doesn't is beyond me.

Because you could then change the title to a thread, i.e.

A thread about, say, marine strategies on Hera. Halfway through, you decide to be evil, and change the thread name to "Blue monkeys and purple dogs".

Or so I imagine the reasoning goes...

As far as I see it, poor grammar and spelling start mattering when they become either a significant distraction or they keep the reader from getting the intended message. For example, if a person spelt "poor" as "pore" in the previous sentence for whatever reason (such as English not being their native language) the intended meaning still gets across just fine.

If you ever need the title for a thread changed, it can be altered by your nearest friendly moderator or admin. Most will be fine with receiving a PM asking for the change.

Thank you marik steele I will do that in future.

I did have another point that is a consequence of the lack of edit function. The spelling nazis should leave people alone who have made a minor typo in a title.

Feel free to accost people who can edit other parts of their posts making your irrelavent
