If the marines had much more team work, these would work great.

11: Don't ask for ammo or medpaks unless you REALLY need it.
And I mean by need it? As in you are doing something importent to the comms tactics. . .and don't ask for weapons when your base is under attack.

10: Know your enemy!
Every good comm or marine has played the alien more then once. Why you ask? I'll tell you ^_^. If you know the strength and weaknesses of the aliens, you can form plans to counter them or in the marines case use it against them.

9: Use team work !!
I mean really . . .The point of the marines is to work togerher. When ever I form a death squad or two in the mid game, I means death to even the Onos XD! Remember: there is no such thing as a one man army.

8: Don't build the same buldings in the same place place each game!!!
I don't know ow many times I've been beaten because I failed to change my building plan plans after games.

7: Don't Stick with one plan.
Have at least a back up plan or two.

6:Use the enemie's tactics!!
There is nothing better then to fall your forces from a Turret farm then hiding in another room and watching the aliens get ambushed for a change XS.

5: Use the knife to kill the enemy resource tower thingys.
It saves ammo and it's faster. Plus it makes funny sounds XS

4:Don't Forget you pistol does more damage then your Light gun.
It's funny to see an alien fall to the lowly pistol XD. Plus it's cool looking.

3: Use the HMGs !!
They are most likely the best gun in the game. Have at least one in each squad, and kiss those onos good bye ^_^.

2: Don't just build near the resource towers and main base.
A random turret farm works wonders on those berserker aliens.

1: Build bases on the hive sites, As soon as you can!!!!!
There is nothing better then to deny your enemy of making a hive in the first place. If they can't make a 3 hive infection, then they can't do as much damage. plus it's fun to see them try to rush your forces.

All and all I know this is a game but don't just give up that survival instinct. If you think you are going to die you sure as well will.

Those are generic tips that probably everyone gives. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I say, when you see an alien, shoot it as much as you can until it gets close, if you see it gettin near (youll learn when to jump from experience, as i cant tell you exactly when), jump to either side and walk in circles a bit, then jump to the side again. Make sure the alien is chasing you. A blinking fade pretty much peepees itself when you do this.

yeah those are very general but o well
HMG against onos? try shotties.... that way they have a less chance of redeeming

your pistol may do more damage but remember you need better acurracy, need to click for each shot, not good against close range... use pistol when target is far away and LMG when it gets close

jup these are THE rulez of defence and engagment, that you need to know out of heart....
But what el donkey says is true 2
AND YES... USE HMG at ONOS!

I forgot nbrs of times to change my plans 2

Yeah but in the new version when the onos redeem XD they let go of your buddies ^_^ I don't like useing the shotty, as close is something you don't want when figthing an Onos. Besides the HMG are great for Suppression fire.
Shot guns = good vers the aliens that have to get close and are weak. In my opinion they are great skulk wasters XD

I posted this in here so people could look it up if they forgot like me ^_^'

Building turret farms no where in particular? Thats an interesting concept.
  • KobayashiKobayashi Join Date: 2003-07-05 Member: 17956Members
other than building them randomly, put them at chokepoints or areas that are well travelled. Then you can get your res worth

What I mean by random . . .is by puting a turret farm in a random corner or well traveled area sort of like you said XS I should have been more clear. but the fact of it being random means the enemy will in no way have an Idea where it's at. Mawhahahah . . .

In addition to using knifes on res towers, I'd also like to note that *welders* work exceptionally well against all alien chambers...seems like many people either don't know this or just knife them out of habit...

knifing a rt is faster than shooting it? you sure? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
    also: shooting it also makes the sound <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->.

The Knife makes a weird Squishy/slashing sound unlike the guns MGThumping/Squishy sound. Knifing non-moble targets also saves your ammo for the moving things you don't want to get close to. . .I'm going to try that welder thing BTW . . .XD

And doesn't the knife do more damage then the light gun? I know the LGM Shoots really fast but . . .the knife seems to slash just as fast . . .
  • CatpokerCatpoker Join Date: 2002-06-25 Member: 816Members
welders USED to be high damage to buildings (at 10 damage)

    its now at 5 damage

i think the knife is like at 7 damage, not sure
  • CombatJoeCombatJoe Join Date: 2003-09-11 Member: 20768Members
Yeah, those concepts are all good to adopt, and yes the knife does kill structures faster than the welder in 2.xx

you forgot one other thing that marines should always do:

    follow your friggin waypoints nublets!

    *pant pant foam*

if you have a valid reason, voice it, and if your comm still makes sucky decisions, vote eject, but don't just wander off!!! The more people follow the waypoint, objectives will be achieved faster and more efficiently, meaning less res wasted, more res gained, and that leads to shiny new hardware and lots of wimpy aliens to point it at.

You can have the best comm in the world but the crappiest marines, you'll lose. or the best marines in the world, and a crappy comm, and you'll probably lose. We all have to meet eachother half way here, it's a team game.

Being a good alien killer is just one step, it's an important one yeah, but you gota trust the commander to put you to good use. even when you're a new player, 5 new players in a group are more likely to kill an alien or reach a rez node than 5 players running off seperately and in different directions, each clammoring for medspam and ammo.

(there is no "I" in team ... though there is a "me" ) ;D

You have a great point about the waypoints. . . ^_^ I was kicking but the other day when every one was listening . . .and we took an hour to finally die out as we so got camped *glomps his new fav server* is it ok If I add that to the first post? and make it 12 after I maybe add something esle I learned?

One last thing . . .don't ask for ammo or medpaks unless under heavy attack . . .and don't ask for weapons when your base is under attack.

And remember that you don't really NEED a medpack that much unless you have some HA or Jetpacks or you're despertly trying to hold a position or something. Don't keep asking for one. If the Comm doesn't give you one in 30 seconds or something, kill yourself. You'll end up like that anyways.

I would say the better way (or my way <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ) to go about it is saying :

Don't go with any plans. Plans always comes up with problems. Always be ready to adapt to circumstances, try not follow a rigid plan. It is too predictable and boring.

of course clan play is a different story, but if you're taking advice from here then I doubt you are in any sort of clan <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->.
