A Small Rant To Commanders

<div class="IPBDescription">Base Decor 101</div> I just played a game on NS_nothing where the Commander, in what he thought was a bright move, built the buildings as close together as possible. Each time you respawn, you have to:
A: Watch out for the IPs stacked right next to each other so that you didn't get telefragged. (Remember, this was in the small aclove that the CC was in. The IPs are in the back.)
B: Time your jump across Phase Gate so that, again, you don't get telefragged. (Thanks 2.01e!)
C: Jump and crawl across the mishmash of other structures, and getting held up because the armory was right in the middle, and the only way to get ammo is to block the way out.
D: Jump across the turrets, and.... get eaten by a skulk because you were the point man.
Commanders, Please enlighten me as to the usefulness of this tactic, and how it outweighs the problem of having your entire base be effected by one bilebomb. Thank you.

Comments
the comm always builds on that ledge and lags my comp out (i can't jump on buildings really well... lags me out for some reason)
sure, i guess it gives a .0002% better chance for survival, but heck, i'm a good marine. i can handle a few skulks attacking on the ground, better than i can handle a skulk up on a small ledge with lag all over the place anyway....
why is this tactic used so much? (we never end up winning anyway...)
Advantages:
Base fits in the smallest locations.
Base is hard to find by scouts (seriously)
Electrifiing protects all structures.
Turret farm shape around it is siple; round.
Base is easy to defend, you can run around it quickly.
There is no place to hide in a bonsai base, attacking it makes your back weak.
Disadvantages:
marines get stuck on spawn.
Its weak against spores (welding) bilebomb and acidrocket.
Its hard to select a structure in it as comm.
Its not that easy to place structures that close.
Welding it is difficoult, comm doesnt see structures health that easy.
Its almost an exploit but its fun and makes no real sense.
the only reason why i would consider this is the electrification that might reach till the perimeter.
Otherwise, I find them strategically useless if harmfull.
The marines are hindered by the buldings if they have to clear the area fast(spores)
and splashweapons like bilebombs and xenociders hit the entire facility. also, a charging Onos hits about EVERYTHING once he cleared his path through the turrets.
Also, I was telefragged several times with HA because I was not able to clear the armory fast enogh and had to go over the phasegates/ips nerby
But hey, there are worse tactics... like mining the base <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
about the DUMBEST idea EvAr.
I stopped counting how often half of the team was blown by a skulk running into a mine some Smartie placed next to the armory. Great tactik, implement early game xenocide in base defense......
What I want to say....dont bother. Einstein said there are two things that are infinite: mankinds foolishness and the universe. Although we was not definately sure about the latter one....
Thank you and have a nice day.
Maybe I should practice jumping out of tiny bases in LAN games o_O
I almost want to find another server when I see a commander drop two IP's right next to each other. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
