lucid dreams are the most intense experience i've ever had. they beat out any form of drugs as far as i am concerned. the nature of reality and dreams are an incredibly interesting topic, i'd love to share som eof my experiences here, but most are far too personal.
i've found this faq (linked to me by my hippy lesbian aunt, god bless) to be the most useful of any source (books or otherwise). i would encourage you to try lucid dreaming, as it can be used equally for fantasy as introspection
what does it mean if your dreaming and you dream about being killed by a evil monkey that lives in your room? Then the Evil monkey eats your brain and your brain chunks take over the monkey and you become the monkey and then you catch on fire?
Lucid dreaming seems like a really awesome experience, and there is lots of info on it on the net. Nice FAQ there Wurmspawn, btw. When I tried to learn it last time, but didn't have the patience, I used http://www.lucidity.com , another nice site.
I used to lucid dream constantly when I was younger - I'd really look forward to falling asleep each night because it was better than any video game. As I got older I lost the ability, though; now I can barely even remember my dreams, much less control them.
Once you realize for 100% certain that you're dreaming, it's easy to control it. My problem nowadays is that no matter what stupid stuff is happening in my dream, I can never convince myself completely that it IS a dream until after I've woken up.
Almost all dreams I ahve are controllable by me, but the dream is working against me most often. For example, 4 years in a row, during the night before my birthday (weird, isn't it) I had the SAME dream: Clocks everywhere, darkness, fear, and the Grim Reaper following me. He always reached me, and killed me. I was relieved when I woke up. I also notice that if I want to wake up from such a controllable dream I just have to kill myself in the dream...
I had a dream where I ruled the world, and it was actually FUN
i had a crazy ww2 one, freaky as hell, i was controlling where i was firing my gun. no joke, i died tho and after i died i instantly was changed to another dream that freaked me out anymore, u try being in a fort where aliens were overruning i wish i had one of those again, the best dreams are when u feel like your on a cliff or a building and when u fall off you feel yourself fallnig and right away wake up
