Who has played gloom?

<div class="IPBDescription">Ok, so i'm desperate</div>Someone mentioned <a href="http://www.planetgloom.com" target="_blank">this mod called Gloom</a>.

The description sounds remotely similar to NS, with Aliens and Builders. Now I'm wondering, would this be worth picking up a copy of Quake2 just to bridge the waiting time for NS? Is anybody even playing Gloom?

people still play gloom and it's a nice mod, there aren't -that- many servers up tho, i think the all seeing eye finds 7 or so. I dunno if you'll like it, the maps are extremely dark and imo the game isn't that balanced, level 1 aliens die far too easily.

In these (this) day and age, you can get a pack whit both quake 1 2 and 3 for about 20 bucks, and considering all the mods for it (including gloom) you should definately buy em, if you havent already done so.

If I had a dollar every time this kind of topic came up I'd be....well, you get the picture.

Anyway, I'm a gloom player and the gameplay itself is alot different between the two mods. Gloom is alot faster and deathmatchy and it also has a pretty steep learning curve. Getting your ### handed to you all the time in the beginning will scare away some players. It's alot of fun when you start getting the hang of it though.

Gloom is horrible.  Dont buy Quake 2 for it.

You sure you guys didn't hate it just because you got your poor behinds handed to you? <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

Like I said before, that <u>will</u> happen to most people at first.

I think Gloom was really innovative when it came out, and quite a lot of fun to play with a whole bunch of people at your skill level.  The maps are really dark though, and it really is difficult to play.  They did a LOT of things right with that game though, and it will always be one of the greats in my mind.
