Ns Is Crashing

<div class="IPBDescription">It quits to desktop while connecting.</div> NS is crashing on my computer, AND on a friends computer who also installed it, the problems are exactly the same and the problem can be recreated again and again. I have already tried reinstalling etc...
When I connect to a game through NS it acts as if it "goes back" through the menus and just exits automatically. It doesn't seem very crash like because I don't get an error message after this happens. I tried putting "valve.rc" in my NS folder but to no avail.
Has anyone had this problem and/or fixed it?
