A la HAMPTONS
As the HAMPTONS is a terrific server but always terribly stuffed with players and therefore tough to play on at times, I've put up a dedicated server with a similar purpose. That is, a server for advanced players. Right now, the server is still running on the WON side, but will be converted to Steam as soon as everything's in order.

This server is particularly aimed at clan members who want more practice in pubs playing against members of other clans. A few things to note:

1. Server will be available for clan scrims; just need advanced notice.
2. Reserved slots are available to all regs, and, especially, to active clans
3. Since my clan is experiencing a shortage of players, I'm willing to give Admin powers to regs with a history of keeping out inexperienced players as well as adhering to (and making sure others adhere to) the rules.

Since the vocab of most players on pubs seems limited to WTH, SUYF, omg, OMG, n00b, newb, nubcake, owned etc. etc., that kind of overused and EXTREMELY ANNOYING language will be kept to a minimum. Trash talking gets way too out of hand these days. Criticism is fine when appropriate.

The details:

Server Name: TUNA TOWN
Server Address: 149.166.29.239:27015
Players: 20
Map Rotation: Standard, no custom maps currently
Connection: T3 on a Gig backbone (nice and fast!) on a dedicated server with 1.5GigRAM and RAID-5/Ultra3SCSI drives

At any rate, I can be contacted at #tunaclan on GamesNet from 8am-4pmCST for requesting reserve slots, scrim requests, players who shouldn't be there etc. If I'm away, just drop a line with contact info and I'll eventually see it. Website is currently in development and should be up soon.

Enjoy!

Have you considered running Cheating-Death? Works fairly well as a two-sided player magnet; repels the nubs you don't seem to want, and attracts the skilled players you do. Plus, skilled players like the added assurance that the other "good" players are likely legit.

Yes, and I plan to use C-D, but I'll most likely wait until the whole Steam mess settles down. If it ever does

Cheating Death doesn't work with Steam (Unless they've released v5.0.0 while I've been at the pub)

Nope, not out yet. But the Vogons did demolish Earth to make way for the new hyperspatial express route. Six pints of bitter, please

Be careful who you give admin privs to, ran into some problems doing that from my experience. Be fore warned, and know EXACTLY who your giving the commands to. Good advice; I'll definitely keep that in mind.
