New Version Of Tfc?

Friend of mine were discussing his install of steam the other day. So then he mentions something that raises and eyebrow.
Teleporters, in TFC.
Admittedly I haven't played TFC in months. Did they put out a new version or something?
:flabbergasted:

They announced they were adding a bunch of stuff a long time ago. TFC was a craptastic job of TF, and now its even worse.

This seems to coincide with my general theory that i don't give a rat's @ss about tfc <grin>

I disagree with you Otto, but whatever. I think TFC is among the best that VALVe has ever made- I love it. It was the thing that weaned me on gaming. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

But ya, they added teleporters, and some other stuff....I dunno. ::shrug::

TFC is fine, I played in clans a long time, but to call it TFC is a lie. It has almost nothing similar to the original gameplay of TF.
  • MonsieurEvilMonsieurEvil Join Date: 2002-01-22 Member: 4Members, Retired Developer, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
Or, you might say it is about 98% similar to the original gameplay (of TF 2.8 at least), and has only very minor differences. You do understand that TFC was made by the very same inventors of TF, and that this makes TFC the official vision of the game. Le Otto de Fanbois, your gross exageration of the facts unmasks you!

Same here. As soon as I got my comp, a friend told me to go out and buy Half Life and join his TFC clan, so I did. And if it weren't for TFC, I probably wouldn't be playing NS.

On a side note, the clan never really put much emphasis into coming to practices and playing games, so it pretty much disbanded because it was never really a serious clan in the first place.

Don't call it TFC then. Stick with the official fiction and call it TF1.5.

    ...

Yeah, the forthcoming teleporters have been made known for some time now. If I still played TFC I'd probably care more about it, but I've since moved on.

I had a crack at it but nobody was really talking and it's be so long since I played that my spy skills blew -.-

Not sure if it's just having not played it in so long but it feels like the spy is a lot more sluggish than I remember. Mind you, could just be me being used to fades and skulks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I could never really get into classic quake TF (or QWTH). I'm was a Threewave CTF kinda guy. :P

But I like TFC, tis pretty fun. Also some of the newer stuff like Dustbowl is perhaps the embodiment of gaming goodness. <3 Dustbowl

The new teleporters though... I didn't really get to play with them all that much. They seem kinda bleh to me though. Very unneeded.

TFC is ownage. It's probably the best mod official mod ( including CS and DOD). It's just....fun. And has amazing netcode ( I had no lag with a **** 56k throughout the whole dustbowl map, spam and all).

The teleporters a cool, adds a new perspective on tactics.

Would you look at that? The question wasen't even answered. ^_^ Yes, Demomen can build Pha...Teleporters.

    Now staying Off Topic:

Since I joined the Half-Lfie scene late, I bought the Game of the Year Edition because it was all that they sold. That came with TFC. TFC was SO much fun, then I found out there you could download other mods. It was heaven.

    Engineers build! Nubcaek!1111111

Anyway, To be honest it didn't change gameplay what-so-ever. It just sits in the corner and hums away emitting sparklies. I put them in the middle of a stupid place and kill the enemy that stares at it in wonder.

I wasnt very impressed with what I seen in the STEAM beta.... No improvement in graphics at all, no bug fixes either.

Nail grenade Exploit works, Many map bugs where you can get outside the level still work, weaponwitch/silent rocket trick works as well.

I've heard about the nail nade bug since....1999. Why don't I ever see it, or have been able to figure it out? Maybe I'm just dumb.

What is this mysterious nail nade bug?

Now that you mention it, your right, TFC is remarcably lag-free for all the stuff that goes on.

Heh I remember playing TFC way back when Half-Life was just released as GOTY and I was using a 33.6k modem, ahh those were the days.....

The only thing that makes the game play really different is the engine.

The HL engine makes annoying conc-jumping possible and grenades seem to bounce further, bunnyhopping, etc, etc. TFC and TF2.8 are essentially different games in playstyle, but maybe not maps weapons, and all that business.

<i>Edit</i>: Well, QW had bunnyhopping too, but it's not quite as extreme as HL. <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->

When the nail grenade's fuse goes off, it moves upwards about a metre before it starts spitting out nails. So, if you do it right, if you get the nail gren to "go off" while it's juuuuust under a thin floor the grenade will rise through the floor and start nailing targets in the room above. As far as I know.

Ah, ok. Thought it was something worth complaining about, instead of a minor annoyance. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
