Bad fps and a question

Will NS work with say 15 fps? i get low fps 25 tops but i have 2 get my screen as small as it will go LoL. And also is bhoping going 2 be a "problem" in this mod 2? or have you made it where they can't allready?

    What's a bhop?

    NS shouldn't run any slower than most other mods, so if you're able to play at 15 fps you shouldn't have any problem.

    Oh but bunnyhopping is a skill! A feature even! It seperates the men from the boys! Without it the game would be very slow!

    BedwettingType, it is an exploit of the game engine. Also called strafejumping. You jump and strafe and move the mouse in such a way that you gain ALOT of speed. You can tear around the map like four times as fast as anyone else.

    It is part of the half-life engine... cstrike is trying to get rid of it, as I think all mods should.

    It dosen't increase speed much at all in NS I have heard,  and anyways when you enemy can fly,teleport, and climb walls your teammates bunny hoping is the least of your troubles.

    I am not speaking for the team here, but Flayra wants the game to run on pretty much any computer in software mode.  15 fps should be fine, however, expect a slowdown or two when that massive action starts up.  Or, I could be wrong, dont expect a slowdown, who knows?  Bunnyhoping in NS?  NS maps consit of hallways, and some big rooms.  You cant really bhop down a hallway, your head hits the celeing and then you just fall down to the ground again with little advantage.  I dont think bhoping will be a problem at all, hopefully a PT will backup what I say.

    Also, as a marine, your equipment will weigh you down, making it quite difficult to jump at all, much less bunny hop.

    Bunnyhopping still exists in Ns but you gain so little speed it aint worth the, lol, time. One of the playtesters compared bunnyhopping across a map as a bob to running across the same map as a bob and gained about 1 second when bunnyhopping

    ACTUALLY, if you are refering to the same post I am thinking of, they said they tried wall-running across the map and only got there about 1 second faster.

    I used to play NS at 15 or so fps (I had the highest resolution on at the time).  So you can play it.  However when I lowered the resolution, I did better.  It should be noted that the most the eye can do is 32 or so fps, so hitting anything higher is kindof useless (execpt as a buffer for lag spikes).

    Uhh, I can notice the difference between 32 FPS and up, and it's a damn big one.  The limit seems more like around 60, but even higher than that.  You can't really pinpoint it very well.

    Think of it this way. In real life, a if a marine knew an alien was around a corner, you'd think he'd do everything he can not to be hit, that means most likely he'll jump around the corner, not just go around it. Anyways, you really think a marine jumping is going to not give the aliens any chance? More like a bob crawling on the roof overhead will give the MARINE less of a chance...

    Why can't we eliminate software mode... god, without the support for it, so many better things could go into mods, but no, they have to run on software for the kids who can't spend 20 dollars on a geforce2 card, arg, your running OUR fun.

    I have noticed that most people that were here before March of this year are pt's is this coencedence or in the early days all you had to do is sign up to get a pt slot?

    It's mostly because the people that signed up early had enough of a chance to make a lasting impression on Flayra before he got terribly busy coming up to the release.  Not to say that all people from then are playtesters, but some of them are, yes.

    You want to eliminate some of the mod community?

    Why don't you get rid of people with dial-up? I mean we are in the year 2002! They are really holding us up! Lagging our servers and they all suck! They are just poor people living in the past! Forget them, they are holding us back.

    HOW did you get to be a playtester? By mapping?

    Actually, most of today's games completly remove software rendering. The fact that HL still has it and it is still an issue for modders is a testament to HL's age and greatness. Removing SR (Software Rendering) would be great, because modders wouldn't need to worry about getting it to work.

    A large part of NS coding was making all the cool D3D and OGL effects to be displayed in Software.

    Also while we are stopping trying to support Software mode players and HPBs, why not let mappers use whatever r_speeds they want? I mean, only people with 3.0+ghz computers with 2 gigs of RAM need to play games any more.. If some fool can't render 200 thirty-sided transparent pipes that are spinning while 100 different colored lights flash randomly and metal gibs constantly fall from the max height possible that the engine will allow and get decent fps.. he should just upgrade his computer or find another MOD for an OLD game.

    Your wrong hida, the human brain refreshes at 24 frames a second. How do I know this? A while back a buncha geeks got together in a major corperation lab, to figure out the problem of expensive movie film....they found out that the human brain refreshes at 24fps, and switched the film to that fps, so film would become MUCH cheaper..one of those geeks was my father in RCA technical labs  <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> If the frames per second hits 24 on your screen or a tv, or a movie screen, you see flickering lines, because that 24 fps interfiers with the 24fps that your brain is running at, thats why they dim the lights in the movie theators.

    To quote an example of this:  If you've heard of Battlefield 1942, and seen its MINIMUM system requirments, you'll know what I mean.  True games are coming that naturaly look better and require more resources, but I don't have the cash to either upgrade or buy a whole new system every year!  My systems only 2 years old, bought it top of the line then, and it can't run this game.  As a min spec, it requires a 800 mhz processor!  Oh well  <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->  Half-Life and its many mods are the only games I come back to a play again and again anyway.
