Whats with that? Any ideas??

There are a couple of things in there that make me go "hmmm..."

1. You have an embedded ns folder (ie ...half-life/ns/ns/custom....

2. What the heck is a custom.hp2 file? I've heard of custom.hpk files but not a .hp2 file.

To save yourself (and us) lots of pain and agony and if you aren't too attached to your server as it is, I'd start over; just wipe it all and start clean. If you have embedded ns folder who knows what else is flubbed.

(that'll perhaps work, but try reinstalling the game ( save all the configs!))

Well I didnt do the installing, I have just taken control of the NS server...

That file doesnt seem to be showing in the ns/ folder ... Does it even exist? I think it might of started when I updated to 2.01??

I'm with Vadakill. I'm guessing that the file opening problem is a symptom of a greater problem, and not the actual problem itself. The only "custom.*" file is "custom.hpk", which will be in your main "ns" directory.

When you installed the 2.01 update, did you unzip to the correct directory? Did you update from 2.0, or try to update from a 1.0x install?

Tis very weird...

I chmodded the NS directory and custom.hbk to see what would happen and well it hasnt crashed yet... so what the hell? lol
