Blaine-baiting

The cynical British
It seems to be a national source of amusement - the British response to Blaine. I mean, some bloke arrives in Britain, sits in a box and expects us to watch on open-mouthed in wonderment and drool. And what do we British do ? Extract the urine. 'Course we do.
Does anyone else think this is a good attitude to have ? Or do the Brits crucify themselves by criticising success ?
Personally, I think its marvellous to have such a cynical questioning attitude. But boy, do we not like success in others. Maybe it balances out in the end.
Blaine-baiting does make me chuckle though ...

I like to think I'm curious rather than cynical but maybe I'm just self-delusional
I used to love magic like that until I got into a little bit of myself and once you know how stuff like that is done it's far less interesting to watch... someone make me believe in the toothfairy again I miss it @.@
since when is sitting in a box for however long magic?
stupidity, yes. magic, no no no no no.
thats why people arent buying it, but i dont see how blain could have not seen this coming.
maybe he knows that all publicity is good publicity.
I think he's a great street magician, his tricks are really cool and he's really good at them, but this kinda thing just bores me, there's nothing wonderous about it, i mean, slap the guy on the back, well done, what do you want? A frickin' medal?
I'd be more impressed if he managed to speak to someone for over a minute without boring them senseless, that'd be far more impressive, and less time consuming too.
Where else could you call someone else a "Wan*er" and the person not take offense?
Stick to street magic Blainey boy because the British sure as hell aren't interested in watching you SIT ON YOUR **** FOR A MONTH AND A HALF. But what annoys me most is how much money he will make from this. My god we may as well go out into the homes of anorexics and throw big wads of cash at them for harming themselves. The only reason this is viewed as OK is because its for "entertainment" purposes.
The media makes me sick sometimes.

If he were doing it for anyone but himself, why, exactly, has it got 24/7 tv coverage (for us sky digital users)? Why is the box hanging in a busy part of a VERY busy city? Why are there almost always crouds of people or tourists there?
Sorry, which part of "yourself" includes multitudes of other people? If he were truely only doing this for himself, the solitude he seeks would be best found in a secluded room in a secret location which only essential medical people and staff would know about.
when more than three or four of us are gathered together at least a couple will feel moved to throw things. (Last week it was eggs, this weekend chipolatas were threatened. If Blaine makes it through the next few weeks he may eventually have assembled the ultimate symbol of our hospitality, a full English breakfast).'

Media sharks? He's hanging in a box in the middle of London! Also, i feel that the 25/7 coverage wasn't just an accident, or a whim of the tv company, it was pre-planned, and most probably by David Blaine's people.

Well, the guy does have water in there. How exactly does he urinate? I mean I assume he does it in the standard fashion but does he have a bucket? A hole in the box?
I remember hearing about this a while ago, but I thought it had fizzled out or something. My opinion of humanity has just gone down a whole bunch thanks to this. Stunning.
