How long are they usualy?
I was wondering, how long are the games, 1 hour? 10 minutes? completely random? cuz I usualy dont have like a hour and a half to play a single game of anything.
I agree, long games are good for a few reasons, usually in the beginning of long games theres a sort of "Dissorientation" due to a buncha people being thrown together to act as a team. it usually takes 15 to twenty minutes for them to stop whinning and act efficently.
Long games get stressful as you fight the oppsing team for power. stress when incorperated into games adds to the excitement.
Long games allow for more strategy, and defensive possibility's. One rule for long games in most RTS is defense first, scouting, and building of forces.
Long games are good...understand? good..you will enjoy long games for they are you saviour.
Is there a server variable to end the game after x number of minutes? and the team with the most points (or whatever) wins.
I suppose it doesn't really matter unless you want to be in a clan, because in a public server you can come and go as you please, provided the server(s) aren't full
Nope, nothing like that since points are based on kills, and kills don't matter in this game. Taking down buildings, hives, the CC, and the spawn portal does.
Besides, the game can turn around at any time. Even if some of those buildings are destroyed.
Hmm i agree, long games are best. Besides, if anyone wants to stop playing they can always quit the game before the map ends, no biggie really.
What i wonder about is what clan matches will be like... I dont imagine people playing a match for 4 hours, i mean there probably will be race oriented clans because most people wont have time to play a match using both races for 4+ hours. Interesting...
Exactly, we had 3 hives up, so I switched to my favaorite level 5 and did some bae romping, taking out everything they had. Unfortunately they had started a minibase of just turrets elsewhere. Being me, and my cocky level 5 attitude, I rushed right in. Well about 5 turrets, and few grenade laucnhers they still had quickly whipped me out
So, I repsawn to find one hive has been killed. I swtich to a level 4 and go hunting. One of my teamates also went level 4. The marines has quickly moved on and were attacking a 2nd hive. So we charged in and took out all but 2 marines. We both respawned just in time to go back to level 4 before the 2nd hive was killed. We met them about halfway to the last hive, and well, we finally killed the last of em
Even without a respawn or base, they had almost killed us off with 3 hives!
I forgot who, but someone said they lasted anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.
On a side note, nice Gladius.
long games lead to good fun and a good dynamic teamplay.... after a while on si, after like 10 to 15 minutes ppl began to group and form the cool 2 guys covering each other´s back attacking, getting scis and succesfully bringing back 1 or 2 scis to the base...... i think long games are 10 times better, and i cant imagine how cool would be a clan match in ns......
Yeah for sure, it seems like a very clan oriented game. I can't wait to set up traps as the level2. Set webs and turrets around a corner so its not visible until you turn the corner so you will proly run into it and get webbed then spiked to death. Thats my kind of game. Do buildings have high sight?
Short games tend to consist of deathmatches a la Unreal Tournament or Quake III. A game with depth and complexity will draw out more of the teamplay aspect of the game. It's quite simple really. When a game continues for a long period of time, you get to the point where you want to end it. But it isn't as easy as running in your opponents base and shooting everything to hell, you require teamwork and a descent plan.
Obviously, I prefer the longer games. And as far as I know, NS games can last anywhere from 10 minutes to an entire hour.
Thats like asking which came first, the chicken or the egg ..
There is no real answer. I've seen matches last anywhere from literally 45 seconds to almost 2 hours!
If I had to quess .. I'd say on average, they last from 15 - 30 minutes.
Its all mad fun though. I think you guys will like the longer games, because when you all join the map and then get kicked back to the readyroom 45 seconds later, its a bit annoying.
Heh, I remember this one game along time ago the alien team (the one I was on) started playing like a team. It was Cage and we'd all rush out of the base when the game started then group up at a door right in front of the marine spawn. We'd attack in mass and the game would be over in about a minute. This happed at least five different times, with everyone being on the same team!
The marines finally got their act together and played like a team, so we got some good gaming action down - cause everyone was pumped (even the marines) after those first 5 or so games. I forgot who won, but it's times like those that bring a smile to my face.
So in other words, the Marines are going to lose most often when NS first comes out.
Just kidding. I'm sure with my mad team-working sk1lZ, we can work out a plan... just don't make me commander. I prefer to be either the leader of a squad (as a grunt), or a member of a squad.
My idea in my game was to automatically put people into "Squads", and that's your squad. Your squad would be marked to show you who, and you'd lose points for getting too far from them... of course, it would take pits and cliffs into account.
id love a 2 hour game

I justed started thinking of another aspect. If the game lasts for a long period of time you're going to start getting some bonds coming out of it, even on a pub you'll start trusting ppl who have been helping. You're much more likly to get to know someone in that situation than in a game of CS or DoD. Coarse that fits with the goal of it being social. I think NS is going to be so much fun. It's going to be that perfect game I've always wanted.
the map should basicaly go on until the other team wins
it would be cool to have like a resting station and u need to take a break for like 5 minutes to regain ur stuff...
anyway long games mean u will get to know ur teammates more and it would help team work used more in my opinion
