Im building my map like this, sky box, inside this is the floor plan, after the floor plan goes on the walls then roff etc. But the trouble is ive gotten to the floor plan for my first hive, and no matter where you evolve to onos u get stuck in the ground! Much like in ns_nancy!
Man, oh MAN can someone help me as its driving me nuts! Ive tried texturing the brushes, making them thicker and thinner but so far this hasnt helped me! -

Are you using the NS hullfile when you run HLCSG?
Mapping Guidelines - required settings section
Are you using a program or a batch file to compile? If a program, which one?
I meant are you using Hammer's interface, Quark's interface, Nem's batch compiler, etc?
I am using Hammer editor to edit my maps and in the options for hammer i have HLCSG listed for my CSG field...
I tried placing the -hullfile switch both in the extra paramaters feild when hitting F9 to compile and ive tried putting it to the field where i put HLCSG so that its <CSG path>/hlcsg.exe -hullfile <hullfile path>
And both dont seem to work, i must be doing something wrong, i tried using batch compiler but i dont think i set it up right, onos dosent get stuck anymore but the map doubles in size....
Are there any tutorials you can point me/us to? If you could explain this in a simpler way that would be cool as well.. thanks man
To see if you're using the hull file, check your <mapname>.log file in your map directory after you've run the tools for the following line:

I'm attaching a picture of Hammer's advanced compile dialog with the hullfile set using my path options. I don't think I'll be able to explain it any better than the picture will show.
I've also been wondering about this for a while, though was going to save asking until I'm nearly finished with a map.

Ive tried putting that in the advanced before but i didnt have the -hullfile as well as the directory, coutn urself as hero of the day cagey

Why do you have all of those wads in there? You only need oned with the textures you are going to use. And I think this should be pahsed to the newbie mapping forum too.
RoP: Your parameters must not be entered correctly, as it says "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\valve\maps\Whee" for the CSG parameters.
Have you tried using a batch file to compile it?
Also, like FB said using more than 8 wads can produce very strange effects, I suggest you strip it down...

This isnt about the wads, its about the new hullfile thing that came with v2.0 that i cant get around, seeing that my other comp isnt connected to the internet and the network cards stuffed ive gotta go bak and forth between them. Thanx for lettin me know there was those useless wads in there though
Find the line containing the CSG information. This should be currently set to: $path\$file
Change it so it reads: $path\$file -hullfile $moddir\nshulls.txt
And yeah, its annoying, but all the wads you have included in Hammer/Worldcraft, but havn't used textures from, will still be counted by the compiling tools. So its best to manually remove (and then restart Hammer/Worldcraft) these extra wads. ns.wad and halflife.wad are really all you need.
Hope this helps

A couple things -- first, you should upgrade to at least Merl's v1.7 version of the tools -- they offer NULL texture support, which 2.5.3 lacks, and they also report if the hullfile wasn't found (so you know that it's at least trying to load).
Second, any chance of grabbing a screenshot of the Adv dialog for comparason? If not, check these things:

Did you spell "-hullfile" correctly with a space between it and the file name?
If there is a space in your hullfile path, did you surround the entire file name (including path) with double quotes? If you don't, CSG will think that the hullfile argument is only the section before the space.

Also, the line that THE_DuFfy posted should be considered equivalent by the tools to the one I posted if your $moddir is set in Hammer's configuration dialogs, but has the same potential problem with a space in the path. CSG doesn't care if the filename comes before or after the parameters.
Paramater : -chart -hullfile c:\sierra\halflife\ns\nshulls.txt $path\$file
so i guess it doesnt have the commas in it lol BUT i have spelt hullfile right
So the commas go like this ?
" -chart -hullfile c:\sierra\halflife\ns\nshulls.txt" $path\$file
I don't see a space in your path, but are you sure your install directory is c:\sierra\halflife and not c:\sierra\half-life with a dash?
EDIT - '/' -> '\' in the paths to prevent confusion
Ill try that and see if it works, but other than that everythings right??

Looks like it -- did you get Merl's 1.7 copy of the tools from the link above?
