However, I have yet to play an HL mod that does not have cylindrical hulls. In such a mod, it would be possible for a wall to obstruct your ability to turn.
that's fine and dandy grimm, but it's a little unfair to expect people new to the game to mystically know that 50% of the onos's body is an optical illusion. Remember, not everybody who plays NS reads these forums =3
oop edit: ~scratches head~ I know what you're saying civ and it makes sense but if that's true then I still find it odd they ask for the 3 dimensions as cylinders only need height and radius =/ bleh... HL just seems to be brimming with weird stuff sometimes lol
GG, use the search function fellas... This has been discussed many times before.
maybe, but the threads here and we're using it so

I agree... this is a major bug with the hitbox/model correlation. Either the hitbox needs to be changed to the actual size of the model or if that is not possible then the model needs to be changed to the size of the hitbox. This goes for all models but the onos is the most obvious. Any problem with the onos taking too much damage after this has been altered can be easily be fixed by adjusting the onos health. As far as I am concerned this is one of the most major bugs in this game and one that makes it to most unfun. I am tired of empting my entire clip into a fades head when he is standing on one side of a turret factory and I am on the other side and he takes no damage. It is just rediculous that anyone would argue against getting this fixed.
I'd say you should stop aiming for his head. The turret factories aren't quite that tall. People who argue against getting it fixed don't see it as broken. I hit the onos EVERY TIME. The hit box is just behind the armor plating on his head. The plating ends around the middle of his body- shoot there. Why is that so hard?
Fixing it would cause remaking models, if I understand the problem correctly. I rather like the giant Onos, I don't want to see it chibi-fied.

uh...download a model viewer, and view the onos model, then enable hitboxes, and u WILL SEE that ur wrong, theres hitboxes to scale with the onos model, infact, there is a HUGE one on his head, if u dont believe me, just msg me on this forum thingy, and ill send u a snapshot

for... think about it. Really think about it. Image an onos, open HL viewer if you need to and try to find a possible spot on the onos which you can shoot from all 360 degrees without hitting the hitboxes. There arent any =P

The belly of the onos would be really pink, and the other parts would look hard and grey. This way, players will understand to shoot for the pink, or make their bullets travel to the pink area. The pink will show the part that is hittable.
Similar to the 'nucleus' idea of the idea, except the onos wouldn't resemble an ameoba with my idea.
I actually think there's something quite scary about an onos with translucent skin and a dark pulsing nucleaus beating at it's heart... or at least the image I'm getting now is pretty scary. It's definitely not something I've seen before in a game ~runs off to patent it~ Anyways, um... the probem with the pink idea is that the hit box doesn't even touch the edges of the model so the 'pink' area would vary a lot with angle; the nucleus idea works because it's done in 3d space, not on a skin. Unless you're talking about some sort of weird overlay like hivesight? o.O
