My system is going to hell. I have pretty much stopped everything I am doing and am trying to kill 1 guy. Just 1! I have had enough of KINGCOLD. Hes ruined my game. I have lost 1740 PP due to this guy, I have made him become a level 5 Player, while I am still ZERO 0, hes got stronger and stronger and I have beet struggling to get enough ships to kill him. I can't do anything anymore. I may be super strong compared to most plaers but I am still TO weak and I can't freaking take it anymore. Every cent I get is going towards killing this 1 guy. I am going to need SO MUCH.. I'll never be able to do it! I feel like quiting and starting over! I think I am going to send my ships to some planet far away and just level my system for Orsos. I'll start over on new planets with TONS of power and become a god some place else.
I have made too many mistakes and I can't take the stress anymore. Unless I get a player level... which has yet to happen I can't get any Astros and I can't beat this freaking KINGCOLD!

I have split up the fleet I was saving for KINGCOLD. I sent the ships all over the sector to all the AFK players I could find. 2 battle Ships went to 1 system 6 Curisers went to another 20 Destroyers went to yet another system. I am systematically going to wipe out all the AFKers in my sector in 1 day. Then I will get a nice Player level and alot of PP. I will then send all these ships back to my closest planet to KINGCOLD. I will use all the Astros I have to buy as many BS as I can and I will destroy KINGCOLD. This will take with travil time and destruction of KINGCOLD, a total of 4 days!
Heh, I see some NS people somewhere near my system, [NS] Cheeseh at (-49,-15) and NS_docchimpy at (-51,-15). As far as I know, those two are pretty much AFK, though it's still nice to see some NS people around
Well, things are going slow, I'm a little lonely in my own system and I guess I'll just upgrade and see what happens, I might go and colonise two planets, one in each of those two NS people's systems.
Math will not help you win a battle. You can have level 100 Math, and still lose. Math only lowers your losses if you win a battle.
Physics will help you win a battle. Whether you are attacking or defending, Physics will increase your chances to win. And if you do win, then Math will kick in.
So if you are being attacked, boost your Physics level, not your Math.
@ Diablus How many planets do you have? I have 8, 5 at level 10 with 20pp/h I am all sciences at level 13 and cluture of 14 but I am no where near as powerful as you are. Not even close!
Thanks to the generosity of NS_Legion I was able to break the siege on my home planet, however I still need your support to defeat the counter attack that’s sure to follow. Please send any spare Astros you have to me NS_GreyPaws
A large part of this game is patience, hanging back and knowing when to strike. If you have 8 planets and he has 4. Don't worry you have twice the PP an hour he will. If you want you could always search for other allys in other solar systems that might be keen to boost their player level. If he is only level 5 that means you have not sent him that much. Just wait next time and send him something really big.

Do you have any starbases and fleet? Also, how do you plan to eliminate this other player? You'd have to take away 10 of his planets, which would take an insane amount of culture. Wouldn't a nice peace treaty be better?
Nah, about how many days SHOULD it take until I get onto another planet? I don't even have 1 pt of culture yet (just 1 comcenter thinger)... 3 farms, 2 robotics...

so in the end, are most PP's gotten from winning battles, or the old fashioned way: planet production? I have no clue how people can make enough PP to churn out battleships... it would take my best planet about 2 days to produce one... and how far is it economical to upgrade a factory? my best is at level 7, and it would take 83 to bump it up again -- that means, 83 hours for the factory upgrade to pay for own investment... unless my logic is flawed... =P

Ships are much, much more expensive than upgrades, and often they never pay for themseleves, so think as upgrades as a good investment. And 83 to upgrade is peanuts. I'm spending 300 per upgrade easily. PPs are gotten from planets. I'm making 200 PPs/h right now, so that's 2 1/2 hours for 1 battleship, which explains how people can get so many. What I can suggest for you is to start pumping culture early, and keep upgrading.
Around when you have level 5 robotics and hydroponics, you can start to branch out. Always try to colonize up in your system (in respect to planet IDs) as opposed to down. Don't worry about planet defense much, since you won't be seeing fleets for awhile.
Well, we were about to lose the thread off the front page so I felt it needed to be bumped back to it's respecated place at the top....and I was bored.

Transmission, i'm paying 600+ to upgrade. I just invested 900 in getting an extra robotic factory for my top planet. But I've decided to cap the rest off at level 11 [thats for robo, hydro and galactic]

With SU's so cheap at the moment it would have been cheaper to do it this way. To see if it is worth it, just calculate how many PPs it would cost to upgrade the infrastructure and how many PPs you need to convert to get an SU. If SU works out cheaper use them.... otherwise upgrade as you always have with PP
As for the level 11 starbase. Amass what you think is enough to take it out -whether you work out combat value or whatever - then double it.
Another good tactic is just to attack a few planets at once with medium fleets. That way he can't send his whole fleet to one planet to combat you.

A) attack an AFK level 2 starbase with 3 destroyers so you can go up to player level 1 and sell the SU for cash
B) build a colony ship and colonise your 2nd planet.
Please note, that my way is not necessarily the best way, I have just seen posts on why this works, but I can also see why in my head why this is the best. I encourage you to also try eediot's recommendation for a new planet and see what works best for that.
Right now i'm at a ratio of 2-1. I'm probably gonna get lvl 6 Robo, lvl 4 Hydro and then attack AFK's and colonize empty planets. Most of my system is free.
