<div class="IPBDescription">What are they thinking?</div> The recent lawsuits against the Fast Food industry have provoked some frustrating thoughts deep in my mind.
These very obese people (I'm talking 350lbs or more) are filing lawsuits against the fast food industry becasue they are getting fat off the food.
Well, let's take a look see and find out what's wrong with this whole fast food lawsuit deali-o.
1. Its YOUR choice to eat the Big Macs or Bacon Cheeseburgers.
2. The restarunts offer other meal choices such as salads.
3. If your fat, EXERCISE don't eat more fast food.
I think this whole thing is out of control. This could turn into another war on the tabacco industry, except "War on Fast Food".

gg blameshifting.
I'd rather have the freedom to sue and have frivilous ones than not, TBH.
Come on. sueing because the hot coffee scalded you??
In england, you can sue, but our judges have some common sense. That sort of lawsuit will just get laughed out of court
No one is saying the suits should not be entertained, but a lot of folks agree that they are groundless and wasteful. That is a jab at the people bringing them to court, not the court for hearing them.
I was simply suggesting how they got the idea in their head in the first place.
i just laugh at the results
You don't get fat overnight. Hey, genius-- if you start gaining weight and becoming morbidly obese-- and you notice that you're eating McDonalds every single day, maybe you should-- and this is crazy-- lay off the Big Macs for a bit and try out a mother-%&^*#(%& salad.
Additionally, in the suits where the parents are filing on behalf of their children, I think it makes sense that if they do win, the money goes into a trust for the kids, and then <i>all</i> the kids are immediately removed from their homes and put into foster care. If their parents are so criminally stupid/ignorant that they don't understand that feeding their kids fast food every meal is <i>bad</i>, they've demonstrated that they clearly are unfit parents.
The media makes this out to be "obese" people suing the Fast Food industry, but lets take a look at facts. Foods high in carbs have been proven to be more "addictive" then foods high in fats. The reason being that empty carbs or calories dont give you the feeling of being full. That being said, its also fair to assume that a person in the early stages of their development (mental and physical) is more prone to develop dependencies. (Its been proven countless times in studies involving drugs). Keeping that in mind, lets now analize the marketing strategies of the Fast Food industry.
KIDS. KIDS. KIDS. Sell to em early, get em hooked, keep em comming back as adults. (McDonalds just announced a Happy Meal for Adults)
To elaborate: Every major fast food establishment in the US is focused on the youngest consumer possible. They include toys in the meal that are meant to attract kids. They use kid oriented mascots (Ronald McDonald) the create a "play land" inside their restaurants. (BK McDonalds) Every major movie that is marketed towards children (From Star Wars to Finding Nemo) has contracts with the fast food industry to push the movie toys on the kids.
If that’s not an issue, I don’t know what is. Joe Camel had to be taken out because he was too "kid friendly" so why don’t we off Ronald.
Happy Meal: (I wasn’t sure so I used the smallest sizes on the <a href='http://www.mcdonalds.com/countries/usa/food/nutrition/categories/nutrition/index.html' target='_blank'>McDonalds</a> nutrition facts site
Hamburger - 280 calories
Fries - 210 calories
cocke- 110 calories
600 calories in one little happy meal that’s just over 1/4 of the total calories you’re supposed to get per day. I wont even mention the saturated fat % and the rest of the negatives.
I eat alot of fast food but i only weigh 125lbs(im 15)
I think its so stupid that people are sueing fast food restrurants because they dont include the nutrition facts i think its common sense. US carries alot of obese kids. I think its the parent's fault for giving them fast food - they SHOULD know that they throw the french fries into grease and leave them there to soak up all the grease. nuff said

They sued because they didn't <i>"know"</i> they would get fat off the food.
Now, and this will be quite wierd, Squeeze that piece of chicken.
Watch all the oil come out.
I knew this fact when I was eight and we had KFC one night for dinner. It didnt put me off, I just though that much oil couldnt be THAT could if taken all the time.
Anyone who thinks that fast foods cant make a normal person fat is an idiot. I'm pretty sure they knew about this stuff in the 80's at the very least, so it should be common knowledge.
Using their logic, I should go sue the fast food industry for NOT making me fat. I eat a take-away meal once a week on average (sometimes 2 or 3) yet I am underweight. IT MUST BE THEIR FAULT@! NOT MINE!
Some people have differing metabolisms. Mine is fast, so I can be a bit more lax in what I eat. Most people are normal, while some simply put on the kilos like no tommorow.
What you put into your mouth is your responsibility and your responsibility alone.
The smokers had a valid case in that cigarretes and the like had been shrouded with misinformation as well as no real tests. Fast foods have been known for some time and should be common knowledge.
Diet is the responsibility of the individual, not the person handing the food out.
