Relics of the Chozo
Time again for another update from Video Game MP3 land. To all the new initiates, http://remix.overclocked.org is your new favorite web site.
I've recently stumbled across a gem that seems to have been out awhile, but has yet to recieve any good publicity. Several really good remixers got together and did an entire soundtrack for Super Metroid!!! Its called Relics of the Chozo, and you can find download mirrors for the entire 19 track album here.
All of them are good quality, but the ones I like the best are tracks 1, 3, 6, 9, 18, and 19.
1 is great simply because *NOBODY* ever remixes the opening intro properly. That alone makes it rockin. 3 is a really catchy beat of the first Ridely fight and both 6 and 9 are all about Brinstar goodness. 18 is another good escape mix, and 19 is a great version of the theme of Samus Aran.
Only thing its really missing is a really good mix of the Mother Brain fight music.. (There is one on track 17, but its not that hot) That aside though, it kicks a lot of arse, and if you like video game music you're sure to like this.

Winamp won't play them >_<
I would ridicule you but the challenge is gone...

P.S. ^_^
What program are you using to play them Doomy?
Just listened to the whole thing.

Cool.
A good mp3-ogg-wav-wma converter is Alive mp3 Wav Converter. It's free for only 20 days, but I'm planning on registering it because it lets you choose all the little options, like directory, bitrate, hz, stereo/mono, stuff like that.
[edit] Thanks Doom, I now have another hour of music that I can play on my radio show if I get the author's permission. Total Geek hour! [/edit]
[edit] and Metroid games are the best games. Fusion was ok, but it was made for GBA. Prime is just sweet, I love the reflection in high-light area's [/edit]
I haven't had a chance to listen to the above remixes, but http://www.metroidmetal.com has some really kickass metal remixes of two of the Metroid songs. I simply love his version of Kraid's theme.
Made myself a CD of the original sountrack <3

Wow, good site. Too bad he only has two themes. The Kraid one rocks, but I can't really get into his title mix. Sucks that he choose those two though, as by now so many bands have all done the same two songs that it just gets a little... bleh. I mean there's only so many ways you can listen to the same song before it gets old...
