How Fast Is Comcast Really?
<div class="IPBDescription">..need an answer today</div> Im thinking about ditching my old verizon connection that caps out at 80k/s and switching to comcast.
From what they say it downloads at 1.5mb/s and uploads at 256k/s. Does anyone in the Seattle area know how fast it goes?
I need an answer today because they have a special offer that expires tommorow, the 30th.
Any help would be much appreciated.
EDIT: oh yea, do TV cable boosters speed the connection at all?

Edit: and how did you calculate that?
edit: woops sorry for the double post thought the edit button wasn't working.
Uh, let me download something and check. I'll edit this post with DL speeds in a sec.
Edit: Max speed: 360. Min: 220. Average was 270. This was Red vs Blue episode 19, so you have an idea of how fast the server was. www.redvsblue.com

there are 8 bits to a byte (divide by 8)...
and 4 bits to a nibble but nobody cares about that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

One byte is 8 bits. A bit is a 0 signal or a 1 signal etc.
Your limited to speed by the following: Distance from the "box", caps to make it fair for all, line quality, overall quality of gear at the "box" and how many users are on. Congested neighborhood= slower, light neighborhood= faster. This applys to ALL connections, regardless of whatever anyone may say "IE: Dsl isn't a shared medium" yes it is.
Well, atleast no one really uses anything but dial-up <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
I ordered it already so I'll see how goes on Friday.
